Well all, it seems I am only a shadow of my former self on these forums. No one is posting on any of my threads anymore, and frankly, I see no reason to try and start any new rp ideas. I'm going to step back and renounce my role as GM of my games on this forum. Feel free to take over my ideas are restart them, I don't care. This site just isn't active enough anymore. I'm taking a break from rping to focus on my writing. Maybe at some point in the future I'll resume my role on this forum, but I doubt it.

Jeff, man, don't be like that! I think the problem was you put too much thoughts in worlds that didn't necessarily attract people. Fantasy worlds are Ok, but what makes them any different from the other hundreds of worlds out there?

If you can't seem to attract people, then why don't you settle for being a player for a while? Just enjoy some lack of responsibility for a while.

Hmmm.........it sounds like more of an ego issue to me, frankly. You can't always be in control of a situation. You aren't god. Just try and live in the moment, and enjoy what comes your way. I personaly enjoy nothing more than perusing Lit and picking rpgs pretty much at random to participate in. I do make my own rpgs on occaision, but I try and keep in mind that the idea is having fun, not ruling the world

I don't see a need for any drama. Jeff got tired. He's quiting. He'll be missed. He had a lot of good ideas. But with the very nature of these threads sometimes an idea gets torpedoed. It happens.

Maybe my problem was creating games for the sake of the story instead of the sake of sex. I mean, this is an srp board, the whole reason people come here is to get involved in a sexual encounter with their characters, not to advance the plot and find out the sinister plan behind the curtains, lol. I should be posting my games in the ORP, I suppose. Considering a DnD game there, but we'll see. Either that, or maybe Star Trek, cadets fresh out of academy.

probably, yeah....though if sex happens there, they frown on it...if you put it on the SRP, you should make it Invite Only, or PM First

It can be difficult to get people interested in a thread where plot and character developement take precedence over smut.

We're all here for different things. Some people do have extremely narrow tastes when it comes to SRPs and don't enjoy experimenting.

Start a thread that requires a woman to assume a role of dominance or authority (and I don't just mean sexual dominance) and you'll find the interest generated is much less than if you were to start a typical "Dominant Male toys with his submissive female slave" type thread. When my threads involve dominant male/subby female themes they seem to generate more interest than my other less straight-forward threads (ones such as Minus Human, Go Tell the Spartans and my Vietnam Era RP have all generated much less interest).

Ideas get shot down pretty quickly when no one shows interest.

Personally, I think that is owed more to lazyness and "fear" than to lack of sex. Recreating historical periods means putting a lot of effort into making things more believable, and that means dates, politics, society... it's like studying, sometimes. That's why simpler premises always attract someone.

Notice how vampires, werewolves, and famous movies and series always attract people. They already know the "rules" in those backgrounds...

That said, chalking lack of interest up to lack of sex is silly. Have you ever bothered actually carrying out a discussion about what people would like? Have you ever made a poll? If you just keep cranking out RP ideas that are not interesting, you are going to get the same result again and again.

Try and ask for opinions. That works better than assumptions...

I usually perfer roles set in current times. I'm in 2 that are historical, but I think that some people enjoy human to human current time roles as apposed to vampire, etc.

That's just my logic though, take it as you want.

If you want to make a serious RP, why not come out and state so openly? This is an SRP board and seems to be tilting more and more towards shorter, quicker posts lately. A detailed, developed SRP would be out of place: people who are looking for a typical RP on this board will likely shun it and those who might be interested will probably never find it. Personally, I haven't seen any of the RPs you tried to start, and I'm not at all the kind of guy who would shy away from a historical RP. In fact, I love those, and I love them properly played out, where characters actually feel like they have mentality of the period/place the RP is set in rather than being modern westerners dressed in old clothes.
