This business with disgraced NSA chief Lieutenant General Michael Flynn is getting very very strange.

Background:
Fethullah Gulen is a legal green-card resident of the USA. He lives in Pennsylvania. He supports changing the government of Turkey to Sharia Law.

Gulen and the current president of Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan were close allies until 2013. In 2013, there was a huge corruption scandal in Turkey and it was found that Erdgoan's cronies were looting the Turkish treasury.

Political uproar ensued, and Erdgoan blamed Gulan for masterminding these protests.

Erdogoan declared Gulen to be a "terrorist", and demanded that the USA return him to Turkey. The USA said, fine, send us proof of his "terrorism", which Turkey was unable to do.

Enter General Flynn.

Flynn was fired by Obama for his absolute failure as chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency. This made him a martyr to the hard-right.

Flynn set up a "foreign policy consulting agency" and signed a $600K deal with the government of Turkey. He wrote an editorial for the Wall Street Journal telling us how great Erdogoan was.

Then he met with Turkish defense officials at a Trump hotel last September. They discussed ways of using private security forces to kidnap Gulen (illegally) and spirit him out of the USA, so Turkey could arrest him.

Towards the end of this meeting, retired CIA chief Alexander Woolsey joined the group. When he heard about this plot, he immediately said no, this is highly illegal. The next day Woolsey informed VP Joe Biden's office of this plot. The US government sent a warning to the government of Turkey, and Turkey got pissed off, moaning about the "deteriorating relations" between the US and Turkey.

End of the plot right?

Well, Trump is elected and Flynn takes control of the NSA. The very first policy directive issued by Flynn is to adjust US policy towards Syria to match exactly what the government of Turkey had asked for two years ago (favoring certain military factions, attacking other factions, etc).

People with long memories at the CIA recall Flynn's dealings with Turkey and starts snooping around in Turkey. They discover that Flynn never registered as a foreign agent for Turkey, which is a big-time felony in the USA.

The long knives come out, and Flynn's tenure as NSA chief ends in record time.

Then last night, it was revealed that there was ANOTHER person at this lets-kidnap-a-US-Green-Card-holder meeting:

United States Representative Devin Nunes, the Republican who chairs the intelligence committee charged with investigating Trump's Russia ties!!

Now there is speculation that Russia and/or Trump is blackmailing Nunes about this illegal meeting to get Trump and his cronies exonerated from this Russian hacking investigation.

We live in interesting times.

I thought nothing would surprise me anymore about politicians ,but this does .
