Returning from the nice dinner at my parents, I bring with me two large brown paper bags full of gifts, which I place in the hallway while I go to put the food mum sent with me; into the fridge. I take a seat, call mum to tell her I got home alright, check my answering machine... and that's when I hear a loud noise from the hallway.

My kitty-boy, Emil, who's THE most curious cat in this country, is investigating the paper bags by punching them with his paws. I believe he wants to play with the ball of colourful strings in the bottom.
However, I don't want him to claw at my things, so I yell at him to stop. 3 times. The cat who can hear a bag of food being opened in the next room has suddenly become deaf.

I go out in the hallway, where only a tail reveals in which bag the cat is hiding and boxing at the paper. Evil as I am, I decide to scare him away from the bag, and - slams my hand around the bag, not hard enough to touch the cat inside, but loud enough to startle him.

Did you know that cats can levitate???

The poor dear jumped atleast 4 feet in the air - backwards! It was as if there had been an explosion and the pressure wave sent him into the air!

If you thought dogs could master that look of hurt innocence, you've never met my cat Emil...

Oh this was priceless. Thanks for the chuckles.

Yes I do know how cats can have that hurt look among others.

As I mentioned before we recently had Magi fixed. He's a Horny Cat minus the Horn. Now it seems Critter is becoming a bit heated, she is becoming interested in him and he doesn't know what to do. She get's upset when he doesn't do anything. The look on his face is priceless, he looks at me as though to say; "You got me into this mess now get me out o it."

Cat

Hilarious! I did something that with a squirrel once when I was a kid. I had a treat and held it out, he slowly came closer, hungry, trusting me more, got close and I shouted. It was like a cartoon moment - it shot straight up, legs splayed, hit the ground and rocketed off. I can still see it.

:D
Ah that look of hurt innocence...swiftly followed by "how dare you make me look like an idiot" and "laugh at me would you? You just wait".

No animal can look innocent or indignant like a cat! :cathappy:
And yes, ours livitate at loud noises too...so much better than the dog at it...Funny, cause the dogs the coward...But we usually get glares after it happens...mostly because they're upset we dare to chastise them ;)

Half-grown puppies can fly, too.

Doubt it? Chase them with an RC car. :D

One of our cats was exploring a plastic bag when its brother jumped on it. The bagged cat jumped straight up in the air, and then tried frantically to extract himself from the bag. Unfortunately, he chose to go through the handle and got himself stuck. He went tearing through the house (hardwood floors, very little traction) and cartwheeled down the steps into the basement before he was able to dislodge himself. We, of course, were laughing and pointing at him this entire time.

He now makes it his mission in life to chew through the handles of all plastic bags so this "horrid deathtrap of doom" will never happen to any unsuspecting cat ever again.

That's DEFINITELY not the same thing! I was trying to stop Emil from doing mischief, you abused a squirrel's bravery for your own sadistic amusement. Shame on you! :catroar:

The same thing happened here a week ago with a brown paper/cardboard bag with string handles! Harry is now getting over a mild bag phobia. Billy is still snickering in kitty.

Pretty funny...our cats certainly don't have that...no matter how many times they get surprised (or trapped in a box) they never seem to learn...always hoping there's something fun in there...:D

I don't expect it to last more than a day or two more with Harry. And it's only the one bag he's wary of, all other bags and boxes are still investigated at top speed.

One of my cats is extremely nervous - she is a rescue cat and we reckon she was abused in her previous life - and she skitters at the slightest noise or straling thing.

What's really funny is watching her approaching some unfamiliar object, like, for instance, a pair of shoes but with one shoe placed on top of the other (copoulating as my mum described it) and my word - you should have seen the poor thing jump! SAhe approached very gingerly then suddenly boiiing and she skittered sideways.

I feel so sorry for her, but she is very funny when she's scared...

Our cats have this thing about boxes. It doesn't matter the size of the box it must be investigated. Tjis of course has led to much humor here, especially when they decide to investigate the smaller boxes.

Cat

We have one of our cats who can;t resist getting involved when a bed is being made. She pounces on the sheet and hides underneath it, pouncing around. This gets even funnier when cat no. 2 comes in and goes
"hang on... there's something moving under that sheet...."
He then pounces on cat no.1 who goes apeshit thinking she's being attacked by something vicious.
It's very very funny, but not too good for the bed linen.

We have a cat who we refer to as our "lap slut"...she seems obliged o find a lap...if two are available, then the one with the most activity to disrupt is preferable ;)

Found this on another site:

Catch Mouse: The humans would have you believe that those lumps under the covers are their feet and hands. They are actually Bed Mice, rumored to be the most delicious of all the mice in the world, though no cat has ever been able to catch one. Maybe YOU can be the first.
