While reading another thread on lit relating to a first time for something or other... I decided to start one about first experiences with porn.
I remember as early as elementary, a group of my friends and I compiling a list of every single book in the school library that had any kind of nudity in it... art history books, national geographics, etc. I suppose given that our intent was -not- to admire art history or culture of south american tribes, that would probably count as porn... however tame.
When I was 12ish or so... my friend Chris and I discovered a liqour store that was about a 30 minute bike/walk/trek from our houses. We'd ride down old railroad tracks, through a trail on state land, down a minor highway, and there it was... "Cigarette Express." The entire store was cigarettes, liqour, thousands of zippo lighters, beer coolers, and the biggest porn section I've seen to date... imagine the entire magazine section at Barnes and Nobles being all porn magazines and porn videos... in tiny party store.
My friend and I would act all casual (like we -weren't- 12 or something, lol) browsing around... we had a whole system which we thought was super tricky. One of use would buy something moderatly expensive... like a $25 zippo. The other one would steal as many porn magazines and tapes as possible. In hindsight... there is no way the guy running the store didn't know. The only thing I can think of is that we bought so many zippos and other expensive things that we could legally buy, that the cost of the pilfered porn mags was neligible. Why else would he not have simply pointed out that he knew, and scared us off? What I find hilarious now is how naive we were. Later in highschool I worked at a bookstore and learned that at the end of the month all the magazine covers were ripped off and sent back to the publisher for credit... all the magazine bodies were thrown in the trash. We should have been dumpster diving that place the last week of every month!
The same friend... about six months later... we're riding our bikes and we pass a house where a husband and wife are having a furious argument. She is yelling at him about dirty magazines and dragging bags of trash to the curb. We watched from the corner as she dragged bags and bags out there. Later that night we came back... and sure enough, the trash bags were just -filled- with porn mags and tapes... alot of them still sealed in the little plastic pouches and shrink wrap. We must have spent half the night pedaling our asses back and forth filling backpack after backpack with porn. We stashed boxes and boxes of it in the rafters of an unused workshop/barn next to his house.
When I was 15 I worked at a Walden Books. Every month I'd get a copy of all the porn mags we carried (along with architectual digest and american handgunner!) because we'd rip off all the covers and send them back to the publisher. Since I was the only guy on staff I always got the "needs muscles for this" jobs... so I'd end up being the guy that hauled all the left over magazine guts out to the dumpster. It was free and unstolen porn! yeah!
The first porn I actually -bought- however was when I was 16. I got a mailbox at one of those mailboxes etc. type stores, and I would place orders to shops like Good Vibrations and Adam 'n Eve by mailing in the computer print out with a fake name (matching the fake name on my mailbox) and a money order made out from that fake name to the company. I was like the porn pimp among my circle of friends. I'd order porn, lube, sex toys, etc. Good times!
Of course shortly after that I got a DSL connection... and ever since that I've never been without a highspeed line. I will say that while the internet provides a wild variety of porn, there is still something to be said for holding it in your hand.
