I've got 15K words written in a story, building up to the final fuck. The kissing started before 3K words, and the story has been steadily escalating from there. The final fuck is my least favorite type to write - missionary in a bed. I feel like I've written this kind of fuck too many times, and that there's nothing new to write. But at the same time, I feel like this is the most important part of the story, the conclusion I've building towards since the first word. I'd like the final fuck to be of a solid length, say 500-1000 words.

So I've been looking around for some inspiration for something new to say. I've watched some porn videos and read some porn stories. I'm strongly tempted to take a similar fuck scene from another of my stories and edit it rather than write the scene from scratch.

Does anyone else have this struggle? What do you look to for inspiration for such fuck scenes?

Well, since the characters are different in each story, they bring different expectations to the story, have different insecurities, and come from different places in their personal growth. That way, they don't become cookie-cutter characters doing cookie-cutter things.

My stories are almost never a straight line to a final fuck, so what I do probably won't help. I want to maintain emotional intensity to the end, but that doesn't always mean sex.

For my Halloween story, I chucked the final fuck I'd already written and replaced it with a conversation that I thought was more intimate and meaningful. Also more fun to write. I did something similar in "Watch Me!" but implied that some kind of sex would continue after the last line.

The story I'm finishing right now ends in the aftermath of a long sex scene. I let the woman stay on top through much of the scene then cut to the aftermath after the guy takes over. I just don't need to write that much more humping after it's clear where things are going.

To some degree, fucking is fucking, and there's nothing you can do to change the fact that it's part A going into part B. This is a constant challenge in writing erotic stories.

I DO find that it sometimes gets tedious when I get to this part of writing the story, which is generally less interesting to me to write than the buildup, but the way I try to get around the tedium is to figure out how the scene isn't just a sex scene but is a culmination of the story. Ask yourself what you can weave into the scene that links it to the whole and makes it a satisfying artistic climax of the whole story. What are the characters feeling, experiencing, and thinking? What bridge has been crossed? What new territory has been explored? How has the main character changed from the beginning of the story? Add a wrinkle to the sex scene to spice it up: a sexy setting, a new toy, a new technique, a new sexual position. Try doggy rather than missionary. Or reverse cowgirl. Or something totally different, from the Kama Sutra. Maybe a character squirts for the first time.

Have them get into it a bit, then have the guy glance at the clock and say: "Oh, shit, the big game is about to begin. Can we finish this later?"....

At first look at your thread title, I was alarmed that you might be announcing the terminus of your amatory life, so I was relieved with a little more explanation.

Some of the best sex-scenario writing comes at the whole business at a tangent, which can still be highly charged. Actual straightforward chronology can indeed become mechanical and tiresome.

I don’t know enough about the rest of your story - any chance you can come at it all sideways? A character’s memory of the event, some time after the fact? Was the scene filmed with a webcam, and revisited (and relived mentally and emotionally) later? A diary entry? Write it like as a voyeur would?

This would be me too. A "final fuck" isn't really the point or the zenith of my stories. The fucks come where they naturally would come in something that would be a story with or without the fucking. So they aren't, in and of themselves, supremely important in the story. They more mark a point the characters reach in relationship or intimacy, which is rarely the end of the story.

This is my bane. The thing that sometimes helps is if a character has an eccentric reaction or says something or makes some unexpected gesture during the scene. And once in a while, I can force that a little, or seed it, by looking at what I've typed and turning something inside out. If she's in the gasping throes of passion, maybe she should turn silly with the partner for a moment, instead.

As far as the mechanics of the act are concerned, I do find myself watching a lot of porn clips in the last year. Not so much for the action, but for odd details of expression or posture or interaction with the environment. It's hard to give a good example of that, just this moment.

You know, when you have several sex scenes featuring the same characters in one story, especially if it takes place over a period of time, it gets difficult for me to find ways to vary the encounters that seem plausible to me. My experience is that IRL people have certain tendencies that are reinforced by repetition and the reassurance of having discovered that this first, then that, etc. produces the desired satisfaction for themselves and their well-acquainted partner.

(Is that a long way of saying that sex between the same two people gets boring? God, I hope not.)

I just wanted to add that I've done this a couple of times. What really happens is that in the end it winds up serving as an armature or thumbnail of sorts, just to get things started, and is (I hope) so transformed by the different characters and setting that the origin of it stops mattering.

And it doesn't really have to be described in all-new terms each time. Erotica is all about sexual arousal. All readers need (and most want) is to have this switch flipped. They seem pretty comfortable with having their favorite switches flipped in familiar ways repeatedly.

I would not be too surprised if you just take some missionary scene from an older story (> 1 year), and paste it with only the absolutely neccessary changes (hair color and the like), and no single reader will notice the trick. May be a nice experiment, I should try this myself one day ;-)

I think to a particular time when we've done it and think of those times when something different happened. Maybe have a cellphone ring with a distinctive tone associated with someone important (ie. work, kids, parents), or the time we finished in the living room and minutes later a neighbor came around to the back of the house to knock on the glass doors where he would have seen us. Since yours is in the bedroom, the pest control guy walks around the house spraying and past your bedroom windows.

When these things happen (they do and they have to us), how do your characters react? (For us it's "What? Again?)

From a reader's standpoint, this is true. Novelty is not required. But it's boring as a writer to do the same thing over and over. It's more satisfying to tread at least some new ground with each story.

Not necessarily, if your concentration is on the greater story. I have about 1,500 stories here on Literotica. I'll let you know if I get bored writing a sex scene in a story. Most of my sex scenes are arousing enough to me that I don't mind writing essentially the same scenario two or three or forty times. They continue to flip the switches.

This. The physical details of the sex can be exactly the same from one story to another, but if the context of that sex is different, it can still hold interest.

With the style I write in, I'm writing emotions along some physical descriptions. The emotions and thoughts in first person POV are far more erotic and powerful than the same old worn third-person physical descriptions combined with a voice in the sky "telling", not "showing", how the character is feeling. Each character brings their own emotions to the story. For erotica, this intimate combination is a lot of fun to write.

Comments copied from my current V-Day story that make my day:

*A wonderfully romantic story and very believable. 5 stars are not enough.

*Wonderful. having lost my wife shortly before our 59th any I cried a few times and remember the wonderful times. Thank you.

*A beautiful love story. Five Stars and a two Kleenex

*I'm ugly crying so hard.

*Very nice story. You brought the characters so much to life that I’m sitting here crying over a fictional couple. 5*

And today, one of my most treasured comments;
*Same story for us! My wife is totally blind. (edited out personal info) Her blindness has never been a handicap; we always adapt. Thank you for writing this marvellous story. I’ll read it to her for Valentine’s Day.

I'm with you. Maybe its because I've been writing for a long time now and come up with a lot of scenes during that stretch, but now I enjoy writing the story and build up, etc...then when I come to the climactic sex scene I'm like "here we go again"

Only so many positions, noises they can make, places they can be in etc...

Keith beat me to saying that for me the sex isn't the biggest part of the story, the story is. But like you can't have a mob movie without someone being whacked, when you're writing erotica, people expect sex.

These days-and maybe I just tell myself this-I think the sex scene can be heightened by the story and build up, get the reader so intent on these two getting together that they'll have a great 'in the moment' reaction to a scene that may not exactly be your best work.

Not sure about copy pasting a sex scene and trying to cover up the fact its been used before, but if you're that blocked or annoyed about the final scene, maybe its the right solution for you. Better than not finishing the story

That's why I prefer short stories. Average 6,000 words. Nice and tight. Most of the time, the first fuck IS the final fuck.

The Final Fucking Frontier

I think every writer, after they have written a certain number of stories, realises there’s only so many ways, depending on the type of story, in which you can describe two, or more, people having sex.

All my stories have been written, with one exception, in which the story comes first and, although the sex is important to the story, it isn’t the be all and end all of it. The other type of story is aimed at the reader who just wants to get off reading about the sex and isn’t bothered what the story is about. It depends on which reader you are aiming for as to how you write your ending.

You can’t reinvent the wheel only slightly different versions of it.

The Final Fuck made me think of Star Trek: The Final Frontier. I imagined Spock and Uhura fucking as the Enterprise spiralled down to inevitably, despite the efforts of J.T. Kirk, crash on an uninhabited planet killing everyone. Would they both orgasm before they die? Would Uhura orgasm more than once but not Spock? Or, with being a Vulcan, would Spock be able to get it up again exceptionally quickly? Would it be the first, and possibly last, interracial alien fucking death scene ever shown in a movie?

I think just cutting and pasting a previous fuck and tweaking a few details (filing off the serial numbers so to speak) does you and the reader a disservice. I’ve read a good story recently and it ends literally with the male character sliding his sisters silk thong panties down her toned, tanned thighs, as he decides to kiss his way up to her pussy. Sometimes leading somewhere and a nice final tease is enough.

You know what makes me nuts?

Orgy scenes.

It's really usually going to actually be about two or three protagonists or viewpoint characters and what they get up to, but setting up the scene with location, general mood, other participants (let's say "featured background") and so on, and then maintaining some sense of that environment throughout without it seeming all too random, is challenging for me.

I think group sex usually works best when you keep a close focus on one character, and that character's thoughts and feelings about the group sex encounter. Especially if it's the character's first time engaging in group sex. It heightens the sense of strangeness and eroticism. To me, anyway.

Another thing to do is to put the orgy/group sex in an unusual place, like somewhere in public. That gives you something to write about other than just what the body parts are doing.

A good group sex scene shouldn't just happen in a short story. There are too many emotions and variables involved. Such stories require more build-up with at least the main characters setting the scene with some context.

In my series, the final chapter is a swinger house party. But the build-up required the previous chapters to explain how six of the characters interacted and viewed the situation.
