The Feel

Sorry if this should go in the thread I just started that I've given brief but intense wondrous thought to since.

The previous thread laments about feeling confident about doing certain things (writing, in this case) and then laying off for a while, then going at it again, but seemingly without an ounce of the powers you thought you had or could call up with a snap of your finger.

I also play guitar - or I try to - and compose my own stuff - or I try to....

Ah, I see this is already getting confused.

The Point:
Sometimes I pick up the guitar and everything feels right - it's all there. The neck in my hand, the sounds, the agility, the love, the relaxed confidence... feels so easy and so right. Everything glides along without a hitch.
Then another time - it's like a struggle to make anything sound decent.
Nothing wants to work.
Now, sometimes, a little (or a lot) of perseverance pays off and The Feel emerges, but other times not.

The same with writing.
One day, sit here at the keyboard or at the table with paper and pen, and I can see so many exciting possibilities and can pick and choose any I want and do whatever I want. It's a joy, and love.
Then another day - like yesterday and the instigation of the previous thread - nothing. Nothing. Nothing. The feel is not there. Again, with a little effort I made a bit of progress but The Feel was not there.

So what is this Feel?
Any studies been done on it?
Why is this?
Why is it that sometimes the pen almost writes itself and others it won't hardly budge?
Again, sorry if this is too similar to my just-posted thread but it felt different enough to do it on its own.

Thanks.

sweet heart...it's called feelings...

Muses...

charmes...

Aura....

It can be anything you want it to be...I can even be "you".

We talke of muses, but honestly, it's us ... our feelings, our thoughts...our wants, our needs, our desires...

As writers, authors, story tellers, we need our feelings to go on. we respect the fact that life is 3 dimensional. To taste, to touch, to feel....oh...to love....

I look at a piece of paper as see something mystical, something scary...something beckoning me...to someone else..they see recycling... :)

Take your destiny and fulfill it.

hmmnmm, a distinctive feature of professional writers is that they keep going, even when it's slow and painful.

How much do you want to write? It's gotta be the same with any creative field. Lots of dull slog, punctuated by flashes of creativity.
Be thankful you get those flashes at all.

I've frequently heard it referred to as "the flow." I personally love the writer's equivlent of the "runner's high." I've been there only a few times but it's lovely.
