8th Grader Arrested At School For Wearing NRA Shirt With Gun On It

WOWK 13 Charleston, Huntington WV News, Weather, Sports

Via WOWKTV:

From the moment 13 News first broke this story on 13 News at 11 on Thursday, emails, Facebook posts and phone calls from people all across the country have been pouring in. Despite all of the attention, Jared Marcum and his family say they’re no closer to a resolution than they were when it all began.

Jared Marcum, an 8th grade student, was suspended, arrested and is now facing two charges after refusing to change his shirt.“People are saying that I did the right thing, that they’re proud,” Jared said.

The 14-year-old student at Logan Middle School in Logan, West Virginia says the NRA shirt that sparked the controversy now symbolizes a fight that is just getting started.

“What they’re doing is trying to take away my rights, my freedom of speech and my second amendment,” Jared said.

“You can take the firearms out of the equation, what this about is fundamental rights,” Jared’s father Allen Lardieri said.

Lardieri says his questions for the school district remain unanswered.

Will the ACLU come to the defense of THIS KID?

BOSTON -- The American Civil Liberties Union says it's concerned the surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect will be questioned by investigators without being read his Miranda rights.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-KAHR' tsahr-NY'-ehv) remained hospitalized Saturday after being wounded in a firefight with police Friday. His brother was killed earlier.

U.S. officials say a special interrogation team for high-value suspects will question Tsarnaev without reading him his Miranda rights, invoking a rare public safety exception triggered by the need to protect the public from immediate danger.

ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero says the exception applies only when there's a continued threat to public safety and is "not an open-ended exception" to the Miranda rule.

Twin explosions near the Boston Marathon finish line Monday killed three people and wounded more than 180. Tsarnaev's father calls him a "true angel."

CHARGES>????????????????? FOR A SHIRT?

I know, crazy right?

How come you didn't post a link, bb?

Thank you...

...'cause in it I read that - contrary to your report - he was not arrested and charged because he was wearing an NRA shirt.

Logan City Police did confirm that Jared had been arrested and charged today.

Yes, that's what the story from you link says...

...what you're disingenuously omitting is what - exactly - he was arrested for and charged with.

BTW:

If you truly desire effective fodder:

Don't you like how Obama is throwing a $10 billion military bone to the the Sunni Sauds and UAE...

...and Israel, all at the same time?

So in the future, this kid Jared's record will read "Obstruction and disturbing the education process". The real reason is for wearing a non-offensive shirt that supports what's being taught in schools? Seems to me that charge should be the other way around and leveled at the school itself.

Schools have morphed into indoctrination centers instead of learning centers, places where our children are introduced to the government promoted standards of thought and behavior we know as political correctness, the liberal view of acceptable thought and societal behavior, ostensibly in an effort to grow good and proper Democrat voters.:D

I miss the old days of school. Kids in my day could say "Bless you" or "you're cute" w/out being suspended for some absurd lib view on religion or sexual harassment. No arrests for wearing Farrah Fawcett shirts. No calculators or cell phones allowed. Nobody got shot.

The really cool part was when schools taught kids how to read, write, and do arithmetic. Like a real education. Now that was some motherfuckin' awesome educating going on back then! Kids today don't know what they're missing.

Fact: the kid wasn't arrested and charged with wearing a NRA-championing Tshirt in school...

...obviously, when confronted about the Tshirt he was wearing in school and told he would not be allowed to continue participating in school wearing that Tshirt, the kid became belligerent with his elders to the point his elders had to call the cops to deal with his abusiveness.

Once the cops arrived, the kid continued his abuse even through the point the cops were most assuredly trying to impress upon him: if you don't calm down, we're going to arrest you.

So...

...they arrested and charged him.

His being arrested had nothing to do with what his Tshirt read/displayed...

...but has everything to do with precisely why you bozos are whining and moaning about it.

No?

Tell me, then:

If the kid's name was Muhammad and he was wearing a Tshirt that read, Allah is God!, and he and the school and police responded in the very same manner...

...how much would you be whining and moaning about it?

glory days.....glory days....

...and nobody got kicked out of school for drawing a picture of a fighter aircraft with a bomb load under the wings. Little boys were allowed to be boys in those days.

and the priests loved it......sorry

Word it or label it however you want to disguise the root of the cause. He was unfairly reprimanded for wearing a shirt that didn't violate school policy. His "elders" approached him under the cloak of being authority figures to carry out some absurd, non-existent rule they made up on their own.

It's odd that you find a shirt supporting the 2nd Amendment, and thus exercising his 1st Amendment right to so, offensive. Yet, you aren't offended by the gun carrying soldier statue in front of the school.

The cops did whatever they had to do because the kid was standing up for the same rights that school taught him about.

BB provide the link you whined about, but you weren't happy he did that to support his claim either.

What's truly "odd" is that you have no clue what a jacked-up dorkwad you truly are, Johnny Bob.

If you read the link and the video showing the shirt, you'd know wtf is going on. Stuff like that goes right over your head all the time.
