I grabbed my laces and began to loop them over in a knot the motion was completely normal like I had done it a million times but yet something felt off about it still. I shook off the feeling and finished tying my shoes. A good run always helped me clear my mind. I grabbed a scrunchie and pulled my long silken blonde hair into a ponytail and adjusted my sports bra and then went out my dorm door. I waved at a couple of the girls I had recently met one hollering out hi Alison. I however quickly found myself outside. I started up my ipod and let the music start blaring in my ears as I always did and started my morning run being sure to check my watch as I started.
As I felt my feet hitting the hard concrete and could hear them landing even over the blaring music in my ear. While everything feel still felt off running still helped me find my balance. I was a good mile into my run before I started trying to process what was going on. It took that long for my mind to clear and weed out the feeling of things were different. I couldn't tell you what was different. Everything felt fine yet everything felt wrong at the same time. I knew I had signed up for a special experimental program for the University that was sponsored by some governmental program. All of my schooling was paid for. I was their ideal candidate because I was an orphan but showed promise as a student with good but not great grades and scores on exams. My living expenses are paid as well. The catch was they erased the majority of my memories and I am not aware of any ofurther any of the other experiments they are doing on me or any others in the cohort. They insisted that it would skew the results of the experiment. So every morning during my run I would try to figure out why I felt off or different sometimes I'd figure it out and sometimes I wouldn't. I glanced down at my watch 3 minutes in and already 2 miles down. Not bad but I knew I could do better and decided to it was time to get out of my own head and just enjoy my run.
