Have a thought about our British and European authors, for the first storm of the season just blew most of the continent!

Deadly storm batters northern Europe
At least thirteen killed as fierce winds cut power and cause widespread travel disruption.

Hurricane strength winds lashed Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and Scandinavia on Monday, killing at least thirteen people, cutting power and forcing the cancellation of hundreds of flights and train journeys.

At least thirteen storm-related deaths were reported, according to the Associated Press news agency, most victims crushed by falling trees. Germany had six deaths, Britain had five and the Netherlands and Denmark had one each. One woman was also missing after being swept into the surf in France.

A 17-year-old girl was killed when a tree fell onto her home while she slept in the county of Kent, southeast of London, while a man in his 50s was killed when a tree crushed his car in the town of Watford, just north of the capital.

I hope all are well. :rose:

:rose: dahlink!

It wasn't as bad as forecast where I was, probably Ogg would have been worst off and I see he is posting tonight so he must be OK.

Glad to hear you are fine. I suppose the moor land was the worst hit, with no hills to break the sweep of the North Atlantic winds.

Are you not nestled in the Welsh hills? Living with (spirits of the Welsh, fairies.) flitting from wood to wood in the evening hours, Making your cat fecund, and knotting the wash?

The weather here has started to shift. Instead of sunny skies, today a mid level deck of light cloud has thickened and darkened. I expect Halloween, to be cold.
Well for La La Land, mid-50's F

LOL, I live bang on the coast just before the clefts which open in the Welsh hillocks (we call them The Valleys cuz we are like that). It was supposed to be in the eye of the storm but it was fine here. A bit of our fence got ripped off - that one is that neighbour's responsibility. We rebuilt the wall we are responsible when we discovered it was about to topple over onto the innocent Piglet as she frolicked in the garden.

It's a braw bricht day the noo here now! (That was not typed in a Welsh accent, btw!)

Having lived in the Southeast in 1987 and now the southwest for this one I have to say this one was nothing compared to 87.

All of it pales into insignificance when compared to the tornadoes experienced in the US. I suppose we make so much of it because we are not used to it. Doubtless the climate change gurus will thell us it is all because of climate change.

Storm? What storm?

I was posting on the General Board thread.

Yes, we had strong winds but nothing exceptional. The main storm seemed to pass to the North and West of us. Our town had minimal damage.

Here in the West Midlands, barely a ripple, but I did hear on today's news that four were killed in England and another 10 between France and Scandinavia.
