Jack Huntington stood at 5'10" with short, dark brown hair and unusual deep gray eyes. Today he wore black pinstripe pants and a light blue shirt with a tie, and donned his usual white lab coat.
"Room 10 is ready for you Dr. Huntginton." Kara his assistant bubbled as she placed the patient's chart in holder outside the room.
Jack glanced at his watch as he finished his documentation from the last patient. "Christ, it's 6:30. Kara, this our last one right? No more after this?"
Kara was back at the front desk. "I'm packing up my bag right now Dr. Huntington!"
"Good," Jack said to himself as he got up and looked at the next chart. A 56 year old man with hypertension here for a follow up. Thank God, this will be done in five and I can get outta here.
He knocked and entered, and turned on his charisma. The medical stuff was easy. Jack had been practicing for about five years now. He was enjoying his life as a single, young physician with minimal other responsibilities besides his work. When he wanted to leave work, it wasn’t because he had a family to go home to or a meeting to attend, it was because he had a very active social life. He had lately been seeing a girl he had met at a bar in Sacramento – he had gone there for some R&R after a medical conference a few months back. They had had a great night and though Jack thought it would be another one-night stand, it turned out he actually liked her, so he kept her around. It ended up an ideal situation because she didn’t really want a committed relationship at this point, and so they were happily "engaged" in a friends with benefits relationship. Tonight he was supposed to go to a movie with her and needed to get the hell out of here.
He finished with the patient and waved him goodbye, dropping a joke as he left. He had a good rapport with his patients, and it paid off. He had a busy practice and made a sound profit off of it. “Alright, Mr Gorrey take care.” Mr Gorrey let himself out of the office.
Lassard sat down at his desk to finish his documentation, and then he would be out. A few minutes into it however he heard the main office door open and close, followed by the shuffling of someone entering.
“Hello?” A female voice.
Damn it, Kara forgot to the lock the door on the way out. Who the hell is this?
“Hello?” The voice called out again. It sounded desperate. Jack didn’t care. He wanted out, and if there was an emergency, whoever was in his waiting room could call 911 and have it taken care of. He typed a little quieter. He would just slip out the back door.
