The people in the town of Haven live in fear, most of them for as long as they can remember. Every night at the same time a malevolent entity comes out of nowhere and kills anyone who is out in the streets. Nobody in the town knows what this thing is or where it has come from and every person that tries to find out anything about it either comes to a dead end or they go missing.

The only safety the people of Haven have is to get inside before the hour of six every night. As soon as they hear the warning bell they get inside. They have become distrustful of anyone from outside of their town and they have become secretive about everything.

Everyone was going about their day as they had for their entire lives. The teenagers were hanging round the shops and generally making mischief while the store owners tried to chase them away and close up their shops as they wanted to get home to their families before it was too late. All of their movements had a sense of urgency and the teenagers, seeing this began to grab all of their gear and say their good byes. As they did there was a sense of sadness and hope- sadness at saying goodby and hope that it would not be the last time- that they would see their friends again.

Suddenly a low deep bell sounded over the town, causing everyone to look at each other. As soon as it began to gong constantly everyone began to run down the streets or to their cars so that they could get home and safety. Everyone knew that if they did not it was certain death.

The parents of the Richardson family ran through the door and slammed it shut. They took several deep breaths as they son walked into the main room and looked at them.
"I was afraid that you weren't going to make it. I don't want to lose you."
The mother looked at her son.
"Where is your sister. Brian, where is Becky?"
Brian looked at his mother with wide eyes.
"She wasn't here when I came home Mom. I thought that she was with you."
Just then everything outside went dark and the mother and father looked at each other just as there was knocking on the front door. They then heard their daughter's voice coming from the other side of the door- asking to be let in. They mother moved to open the door but was stopped by her husband. She looked at him with wide eyes.

"That is our daughter out there Mike. We can't leave her out there."

"We can and we must Joclyn. If we let her in we will be dead as well. We just have to pray that it leaves her alone."

Just then they heard their daughter start to pound on the front door. Joclyn tried to get past Mike to open the door but he held onto her as he knew that it they opened the door they would be as good as dead.

They then heard a scream come from the door and they looked at it with wide eyes. They heard their daughters body being slammed against the door again and again they get thrown against the side of the house before being slammed against the door again.

Above the sound of their daughters body being slammed against the front of their home Mike and Joclyn could hear one thing- her screaming. It sounded as though it was being ripped from her and Mike hoped that it would end soon as he held Joclyn close who was crying into his shirt.

As the sun rose the sound of a Harley could be heard coming down the road, breaking up the sounds of the new morning. It then suddenly appeared over the horizon, its rider sitting comfortably on the seat of the large black bike as if he had been born there. It moved down the road and the rider saw the country side fly past as a blur just as he passed the large sign that said Welcome to Haven.

Daniel Thompson had been told that this was a beautiful place to visit and as he saw the coastal town spread out before him he knew that it was true. He drove down the road straight into the town and the first thing he noticed was how peaceful and quiet it was and how it was being destroyed by his engine.

He then noticed the looks of the people who were watching him as he passed. He thought that it was weird the way that they looked at him- as if he didn't belong, as if he should not be there. They also had the look on their faces that they thought it was weird that someone should be coming to their town.

Daniel rode his bike down the main street where he had been told the hotel was. Just as he saw the hotel a truck drove past him and Daniel's eyes widened when he saw an arm leaning over the top. What the hell was that? was his first thought as he moved down the road towards the large hotel that loomed at the end of the street.

He just hoped that this town was going to give him everything that it promised.

Chuck Finley

OOC: Chuck was prematurely grey. His hair was not yet thinning, give it a year or two, and he had a bushy grey mustache. He was only 38, but looked older. He had once been a portly, jolly fellow, but the Entity had changed all of that. His 5'11" frame was gaunt. The stress of living here had changed his normally happy face into a permanent frown. He lived alone in a small apartment attached to the Sheriff's office.

Chuck was the Sheriff in the town of Haven. It really was a thankless job. His only duties were to warn visitors about the curfew, set up the blockade on the bridge that led to the penisula that the town of Haven was on and to collect the bodies in the morning. When the trouble had started, he tried to do something about it, but two dead deputies later, he had given up.

Chuck saw the motorcycle rider heading for the hotel and went over to meet him. Time for job #1.

Eric Townsend:

Eric's Background:

He has had a rare medical condition called Narcolepsy since childhood. However, Eric's is even more rare than normal Narcolepsy in that his has a schedule. Every sunset Eric uncontrollably falls asleep and sleeps soundly until sunrise.
His father, mother and grandparents sent him to innumerable doctors, specialists, even university "sleep labs" for testing to see if anything could be done a remedy his condition, all unsuccessfully.
Eric now lives in his paternal grandparents home. He'd inherited it when Granny passed away. He'd finished a good computer programing school and worked from home as a programmer and online consultant.
Eric spends most of his time online, other than daily exercise and runs to stay fit and healthy. Over the years he's made friends with several he's chatted with and has even invited several he liked the most and that he'd told of his medical condition to come and visit if they were ever in his neck of the woods.

IC:
Sunset was getting close so Eric showered and got ready for his usual night asleep.
He'd just gotten under the cover sans pajamas as usual when he fell into his usual deep and sound sleep.

Jade

Jade had lived in Haven her entire life. She was twenty years old and had lived in the same house for all twenty years of her life. Her younger brother had been killed when he was twelve by The Entity, as the people of Haven had called it. Jade's parents were both dead- thankfully by natural causes.
___

Jade awoke that morning- not bothering to flip on the TV to see who had died last night. She stretched and yawned, and padded down the stairs to get a bottle of chocolate milk out of the refridgerator. She walked back upstairs and sat down cross-legged on her bed, flipping the TV on anyway. She switched the channel to a Bugs Bunny cartoon, only half watching it. Jade frowned as she heard the roar of a motorcycle go past her house. She didn't know anyone in the small town that owned a motorcycle. She shook the thought out of her head and went to the mirror. Jade was one of those girls that was pretty, but just didn't know it. She had long black hair with blood red streaks that fell to just above her elbows, large mint green eyes, and only reached a height of 5'4''.
She worked at a small music shop uptown which was the ideal job for her. Jade's first and only love would always be music. She sighed to herself and started to get ready for that day.
She pulled her dark hair back into a loose ponytail at the nape of her neck and changed into a black Ramones tee shirt that was ripped along the bottom to expose her pierced navel with a tatoo of a black rose around it. She slipped on some faded flared jeans and stepped into her black flip flops.
Jade stepped out her door and decided that, since it was such a nice day, she would walk to work. She popped in a piece of bubble gum and started to chew, every once in a while blowing a bubble. She reached the small shop in about ten minutes. Unlocking the door, she saw the hotel across the street and saw the motorcycle that she had heard earlier that morning. She frowned, uncertain of what to think about this outsider but eventually just shook it off and entered the shop, getting ready for that day of business.

Joseline sat down on the ground in front of the freshly made grave tears streaming down her cheeck from her violet colored eyes. If only she had been here she would have been able to prevent it from happening she would have told her to come home..

Standing up she brushed the dirt off her long black skirt. The funeral had ended hours ago. It was still early in the morning and not everyone in town knew she was back. It had been quite a shock for her parents to see her again. They were happy but scared.

She left because of the nightmares caused by the Entity here. When she was younger more nieve she had told the people that they should go home and stay home the day before they were destined to die. Her nightmares had become a preminition of sorts.. when she would sleep at night she would dream of the next victoms. she was never sure why, it just happened. One day the town thought she had been in league with the Entity and thought if they killed her then the Entity would leave.. thats when she ran. The whole town never knew what happened and when she left they thought the Entity had taken her.. The town was in for a shock their resident wierdo was back.

She bent down and touched the fingers on the gavestone then brought it to her lips.. goodbye Becky and wiped the tears from her eyes then turned and headed back to her home.

walking down the street she passed the Inn to see a familiar motorcycle... "No. it cant be... he cant ... but .. no.." she walked towards the Inn to see the sheriff come out. It had been at least six years since she ran .. she was fifteen then.. now she was older. "Hey Chuck.. long time no see.. " she said waiting to see if he would recognize her..

"Ahhhh, it's time again. Time to hunt."

A rapid circuit of Haven had been disappointing. That is until the young female's voice begging to be let inside reached it's ears.

It homed in with the unerring ability of a predator closing on its prey and soon stood behind her on the porch of the house watching as the teen beat on the door with her fists pleading, begging to be let inside before it was to late.

Then she seemed to sense its presence and slowly turned to face it. Turned with a pale but cute face and wide eyes full of terror. Her mouth opened to shriek, scream then she babbled out pleas and begged as it's claws slowly shredded her clothing until she stood before it as bare as the day she was born.

"If she screams and begs long enough they'll open the door and I'll not feed, I'll feast tonight, on all of them."

The girl is slammed against the door by the force of his rampant maleness slamming into her sundering her virginity and she screamed and howled in pain as her vagina was split and ripped open by his size.

He rutted with her driving her against the door and then the wall, against the door again and again. Her screams and howls became louder sounding as if her throat would tear as she was taken again and again. She made sounds one would believe a human could make as a claw slowly began to slice her small breasts beginning at the base and slowly drawing lines of blood in each that drew closer and closer to the nipples.

Nipples which it bit and pierced with its teeth as its hands moved to her ripe buttocks and the claws sank into the meat jerking her onto his maleness until he spewed into her and at the same time bit her throat to drink deeply of her life's blood slaking his thirst.

At last silence fell broken only by the dripping of her blood onto wood of the porch. It dropped her lifeless body in a bloddy and mutilated, violated heap at the door and waited to see if silence would do what her screams and pleas hadn't done, get the door open, but that didn't happen. They were to smart to open the door and let it in.

It left to continue the hunt. More slowly now and with more stealth since the driving urge and need had been satiated. Now it hunted for sport.

Chuck the Sheriff

Chuck said hello to the young woman. "Do I know you?", he asked.

He had just finished warning the young man about the curfew. "You must be in the lodge by 5:45 PM and you cannot leave until the sun is up." He remembered continuing, interrupting any complaints before the young man could voice them. "The curfew is for everyday, without exception. Don't blame me, it was the town council. And if you cause any trouble, I will throw you into the hoosegow, understand?" The young man had grumbled about freedom and the Constitution, but finally agreed.

Chuck started to read the riot act to the young woman, when she interrupted saying, "It's me, Joseline, don't you remember me? I ran away some years ago. I was born & raised here." Chuck really didn't remember her, but said, "Well, if you ARE from here then you know the rules. Obey the curfew and stay out of trouble. I've got enough to worry about."

Joseline shook her head. At least she knew that he didnt recognize her, but she hoped at least someone would. As she stepped into the Inn she knew one person that knew her as she was now.

It had been only a few days since they last saw each eother.. If only she could explain why she never ansered maybe he would understand..but she couldnt.. What she didnt understand was why he would come here.. Maybe it was the stories she told him.. the ones she had made up to make her life seem normal .. peaceful.

Before she could make it to the front desk she turned away... she wouldnt let him know she was here.. She needed to avenge her sister first... Even if she died trying she would find out. This town had been plagued by this entity for too long.

She walked down the street to roam about the town.. it hadnt changed in the six years that she had left.. and that thing was still here ... its latest victim... her sister.. Becky... She stopped and leaned agaist the window pane of the record store.. as her body fought for control of her torment.. she took a deep breath, wiped her tears and walked in.

She roamed about the aisles looking for something to keep her mind off her problems. She picked up a record of music from Enya. The soft liliting sounds from her music always made her feel better. She walked to the registar to pay for it.

Jade

Jade glanced up from her magazine- Guitar World- and saw the girl standing there with a CD, waiting for it to be paid for. She smiled apologetically and took the CD from her. "Sorry, spacing out. Not unusual these days. Enya, eh? Good choice. That'll be thirteen dollars and sixty-two cents." Jade took the money from the girl and gave her the change and a small paper bag with the CD in it. She frowned as she looked at the girl.

"What?" the girl asked.

"You look familiar. I haven't seen you around much but, have I seen you somewhere before? What's your name?" she asked.

Chuck

Chuck looked out at the center of town from the window of his police cruiser. He was making his noon time rounds, looking for trouble. He hadn't spotted any yet, but the day was only half over.

Chuck passed by the Inn and saw the motorcycle still there. He decided to go look around town.

As Daniel stood there and looked out at the ocean he couldn't help but wondered what the hell was going on here. What was going on with the body in the truck or were there more than one of them. He stood there at the window and couldn't stop the conflicting thoughts that were running through his head. He sighed and knew that this was not going any good and there was one thing he had not done yet. He walked towards the door to his room and grabbed his key then locked the door behind him.

As soon as he was in the hallway he noticed that someone was standing there looking at him and he turned to face him.
"Hi, my name is Daniel. How are you this fine day?"
"Don't want to know your name. Dangerous to know your name it is," the woman said before she walked past him down the hall.

Daniel shook his head as he saw he walk off and wondered just what had happened to her to make her go mad like that. He didn't think he wanted to know and walked down the hall to the stairs, stopping just long enough to see if the woman was still there and when he was sure that she wasn't he walked down the stairs and past the front desk.

When he got outside he wondered if he should take his bike but he knew that if he did it would just ruin the peace and calm of this place and he wouldn't really see anything. He smiled before he began to walk down the street, looked this way and that and noticed just how beautiful everything around here was.

Just then he noticed the police car driving towards him and he stopped, wondering if he was after him but he thought that that was stupid as he had just gotten into town. He continued to walk down the main street until he saw a sign for a record store that caught his interest.

He walked into the store and made his way to the CDs, hoping that they would have some of the music that he liked. He began to flip through the music and finally found something from his favorite band. As soon as he grabbed it he turned and started to make it to the front counter but stopped when he saw an all too familiar face.

What the fuck was the only thought that he had.

Eric Townsend:

As usual Eric woke with the sunrise and began his day. Once showered and dressed Eric chose to eat at the restaurant instead of fixing it at home.

Eric rode his trail bike to the center of town and leaned it against the eucalyptus tree out front. Inside he greeted Polly, the waitress and an old friend and classmate, with a smile and joke as he ordered his breakfast... and listened to what happened to poor Becky last night because she wasn't inside before dark.

Shaking his head sadly, "I just wish someone would catch whatever or whoever is doing this. It's been ages since it began and it alsmost seems as if no one's doing enough to stop the killings. You'd think that after all of these years someone'd have a clue as to who or what's responsible."

Polly agrees and, shaking her head, walks over and passes his order to the kitchen.

Eric reads the paper laying on the counter as Polly cleans a table and waits on other early bird customers.

Once he's eaten, paid his bill and left Polly a nice tip Eric pushes his bike to the convience store up the street and buys a twelve pack of Coca-Cola then heads home to see what has to be done for his computer business.

As he slowly pedals up the tree shaded street Eric notices a motorcycle parked in front of the hotel and wonders who's visiting who and if they'd been given a warning about being inside before it was dark.

"Well, at least it's not something I'm likely to forget," Eric thinks to himself for about the millionth time as he slowly pedals closer to home.

Sheriff Chuck

Chuck kept checking his watch, it was something he did regularly, especially as the day worn on. Every day was the same for Chuck and every day started and ended bad. Pick up the bodies in the morning, wonder who didn't get home in time at night. It could drive a man insane, and it had. They weren't much of a problem, sooner or later the Entity would get them.

Chuck decided to walk a bit and parked near the record store. There was plenty of time before six.

Jade looked at the guy standing there, staring at her and blinked. "Erm...can I help you?" she ran a hand through her hair and looked at him. "Do you need help finding anything?" she frowned at the stunning familiarity she saw in his eyes.

He opened his mouth to say something when the bell tinkled and the sheriff came in. "Hey, Chuck," she called, grinning at him. "How many bodies were there this morning?"

Phone rings at the music store:

"Hello Jade this is Eric. How ya doing today? Haven't seen you in a while.
"I forgot to stop by when I was down town earlier. Have the tapes I ordered come in yet?" he asks, the sound of keyboard keys clicking can be heard in the background as he works and talks at the same time.

"Oh, hey Eric. I'm good. Yeah, I think I got the tapes. Hold on a sec." Jade set the phone down on the counter and disappeared below it for a second, bringing out a large box, "I got them yesterday but the got in around quarter til six so I didn't have a chance to call." Jade took a few tapes out of the box and set them aside. "Yeah, sure, you can come and get them. Okay, I'll see ya then. Bye, Eric." Jade put the big box back and looked at the rest of her customers. "Now, anything I can help you guys with?"

Eric:

"Great goodlookin'. I'll see ya as soon as I've finished these code strings.
"Want to see if I can listen to some of them before it's 'bedtime'."

Sheriff Chuck

Chuck bristled at Jade's question about bodies, especially in front of a stranger! Chuck didn't know what to think of young people these days. "Nothing for me Jade, just makin' my rounds", Chuck said.

Chuck addressed the handsome stranger, "Are you gonna be in town long? Don't forget about the curfew, in your room by 5:45 PM. Don't forget."

Joseline smiled at Jade, apparently nobody remembered her, which seemed okay with her. After all it had been six years since she last set her foot in this town.

"I'd like to pay for this.." she handed the cd to Jade and payed her for the cd. Just before she turned around, she felt a tingle go down her spine. As if she knew that the person she didnt want to see was standing behind her. She turned and looked. Her fears had been corect.

Standing before her was Dan. How in the world could she had left without saying anything. She stood there for what seemed like hours but in reality only seconds. Her heart thumped against her chest and she dug her nails into her palm.

Taking a deep breath Joseline smiled. "Hello Dan long time no see, Had no idea you were in town. well hope to see you around." and then becuase she didnt or couldnt say anything more without breaking into tears, she slipped past him and bee lined for the door.

Eric:

Having decided perhaps the new music would help out as he worked Eric left almost immediately after the phone call. In town again he leaned the bike against the tree outside of the music store, turned and headed for the door.

He looked up at the sky to see how much time he had left so wasn't watching where he was going. As he opened the door, "... she slipped past him and bee lined for the door." he ran smack into a young woman about his age as she was hurrying out nearly knocking her to the floor.

Eric grabbed her arms saying, "Damn. I'm sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going. I hope I didn't hurt you miss." Then he looked at the woman whose arms he was holding. That look we all get on our faces when we know that we know someone, but can't immediately place who they are appeared on Eric's face as he looked at her.

Then he smiled his big killer smile as he exclaimed, "Josie? Is it really you?
"I can't believe it.
"What's it been six, seven years? Where the hell have you been. It's great to see you again."

Then the reason for her most likely reappearing in down hit him and the smile died.

Unthinkingly he pulled her into a tight hug as he softly murmurs, "I'm so very sorry about Becky Josie. She was a great kid and became a lovely young lady.
"Wish I could say more, but it would sound trite Josie."

Glancing over her head he sees a young guy he doesn't know in the store and Jade, both watching the tableau in the doorway.

Sheriff Chuck

Sheriff Chuck watched the gaggle of people in the record store. "Listen up all of you, if you don't get home I'll run you all in," Sheriff Chuck ordered.

Sheriff Chuck stood with his arms crossed waiting for a reply.

Eric:

"Come on Chuck, give us a break. We all know and will be there in pleanty of time don't worry Big Guy, "Eric says as he smiles at the sheriff.

"Just getting some new CD's from Jude and saying Hi to an old friend and classmate.
"You remember Becky's older sister Josie, don't you?" Eric says looking at Chuck and trying to convey for him to cool it around Josie 'cause her sister was one of "It's" victims.

Sheriff Chuck

Sheriff Chuck listened to Eric's explanation. He caught his hint about Joseline just having her sister killed, but he had lived in the shadow of the Entity for so long, that another dead person was common place to him.

"Well, what do the rest of you have to say?" Sheriff Chuck demanded.

Josie ran smack into someone that was arriveing at the store, she didnt realize where she had been going adn looked up to say sorry, then wanting to leave, but the guy held on and said he was sorry for his sister..

It took her a second and she remembered him, the Guy Eric from school. she said, "Thanks eric, I had hoped to never come back to this home, but I definately was going to say goodbye to my sister" She smiled. Her tears had been threatening to fall and she didnt really want everyone to know that she wasnt crying only for Becky, but also, for bumping into dan. She just gave Eric a sad smile, and turned to look at the sheriff. "I'm going home I know the drill." as she walked off.

As she headed home quickliy so that dan couldnt catch up to her, she thought about her plans, she was going to figure out what was going on in this damn town, and then she was going to leave and kill the son of a bitch that killed her baby sister. Her parents were idiots, they shoudl have let her in. she would have.
She slipped into her home, just as some fresh tears trickled down her checks.
