What goes around, comes around. When it gets here, it might not leave.

I think a middle manager in a credit union should be as worried as anyone about losing his job.
Well said. I'm perfectly happy with being where I'm at, though. I came very close to being both the data center manager AND bank manager but actually it's for the better that those jobs be split among two people. The bank manager has as almost many years in banking as I have lived on this planet, so he deserved to run that side. I make more money with my wife doing rollovers, work comp, and all that for our own business, but I haven't left because I've been able to do a LOT at this job - I killed plans to offshore call center customer service, nixed pre-employment credit checks, established rules for re-checking negative background check information (what Choicepoint has on the some applicants is totally false bullshit), adjusted the attitudes of assholish and clueless HR people, had the fun of passing out two awesomely generous Christmas bonuses, got a great, low copay, low number of exclusions major medical plan (though someone else did most of the negotiations for that, I just hired her and told her to make it happen), got a tech school going, etc.
This job has been absolutely incredibly good to me in that it has let me work inside the system to change the system, and no amount of money in the world can replace that.
