Quite sophisticated. Which must be why you did not allow voting.Actually, I have a story posted already called "Empty Nest". It's about the struggle of a couple after the kids have left for college and the husband has...
Well you'll have to read it...
And from the link that Lit assigned it, it looks like there are 5 other stories with that name.![]()

sure that wasn't a dream you had after watching an episode of Fawlty Towers? It sounds like something Basil would have tried to engineer. Many years ago I saw a film I cannot recall the name of. Set in an English seaside village in the 1960s mom-- or is that "mum"-- and dad are physically fit and out of touch with changes going on in society. After packing their son off to university, they advertise their now spare room overlooking the beach with a SoHo booking agency who sends Mods as clients.
At first the older couple is confused with unmarried and even same gender couples renting the room they have up for rent. But in time they get to know and like their guests and become swingers themselves.

I have written a few Fawlty Towers Fan Fics. One of my favorite story lines is that pretty much everyone except Basil and the Major are swingers, and he never quite figures that out. (But, it sure explains those five stars in the Michelin Guide.)
so, pretty much just taking the actual subtext into the forefront?
.....But who's doing Manuel?
Miss Gadsby and Miss Tibbs might have some interesting tales from the 1920s.

Thank you.
Actually I turned it off after the fact along with the comments because of idiots.
And show them "I have the power" not them.![]()
ah, but I would miss the idjits.
Sometimes, it all depends on my mood at the time I read the comment(s). Other times I just shrug, have a good laugh, and move on.
But when everyone speculates what the wife really wanted to do and there was none of that in the story, then bye-bye comments.
unless the speculation sparks a fresh idea...
that how inane the comments usually are.
I have a story up here, the MC plots and commits a murder because the MC is attracted to a person whom they cannot ever have. And the object of the MCs unrequited affection was hugely wronged by the person killed in the tale.
Most of the comments posted about the story concern the automobile in the story ???
was it a classic?
Yes, I borrowed the technical dialog about the car's "restoration and customization" from memories of a friend who did the same thing with the same model automobile in high school-- before it was a "classic." But it ignited a "leave it stock / customize it" firestorm
ohhh, you must write this. Please. please.please.The husband has been secretly writing erotica that places his wife in scenarios that only exist in his imagination. Years of voluntary celibacy has been the fuel for these detailed sexual adventures. A choice of not only abstaining from relations with his wife but also himself. Injecting such unrequited desires into these stories have now become his sexual outlet ever since his wife experienced the change and tamped down any possibility of having a real outlet for his sexual needs.
The only set of eyes that have ever seen these writings were his own. Volumes of his printed work were meticulously bound and carefully stored in his woodworking shed. That storage was just as meticulous as he built cabinets with false bottoms that kept his sexual imaginings just as tamped down as his sexual desires for his wife.
One day while storing yet another thick manuscript, he was interrupted by an unexpected call from a neighbor in trouble. Their neighbors were nearly miles apart as they were all multi-generational farmers. The neighbor's trouble was two-fold as it was a wife of a good friend that had nearly severed his arm and they were without transportation. Without hesitation, the husband was on his way to his friend in need leaving behind volumes of his secret love affairs
carelessly exposed.
The wife respected the privacy of her husband's woodshed but a glance out the window saw a light shining in the dark from his personal sanctuary. Not arriving for dinner and not answering her calls brought her outside in search of his whereabouts. Soon, she saw what he had left behind and soon she was sitting comfortably reading about herself. Soon she was living in his imaginings and sharing his desires both mentally and physically.
Hopefully, soon her husband would be home . . .
