Owlie!!!! Wow! What a great way to start the day (gabby woke me by whispering in my ear the good news about your return). It’s great to see you out and about again. I hope you’re feeling better.

FYI I posted one of the tables from your groundbreaking first LITEROTICA NUMBERS work on another thread the other day (not sure which one – I couldn’t find it just now when I went to look) – hope you don’t mind (I did credit you).

I’m delighted to hear you are working on Part 3 of this series – your first two works helped lift the veil of secrecy that the PALACE had used for so long.

When I consulted your work the other day I reread the whole thing and when I finished I almost emailed you to ask if you were ever going to update the data you presented (for people who haven’t read the story Mr Owlwhisper’s study only covers up to 2008).

Questions sprang to mind as I read your seminal study – questions like:

-How many works were submitted in 2009, 2010?
-Have there been any major changes in the ranking of the various categories by score?
-Have the average and median ratings continued to fall or have they stabilized?
-What percentage of stories (by category) were rated “hot” in 2009/10? Has there been any major changes?
Etc.,etc.

I, and many others I’m sure, look forward to answers to these and other questions.

I’m also going to ask you a favor Owlie. As you may know ScouriesWorld has for some years published a 100+ COMMENTS list (gabby has done yeoman’s work). Up til now it’s been very difficult to produce a comprehensive list of club stories and authors – it was hit and miss finding these stories.

However with the changes MANU recently made the number of comments every story has received is listed at the bottom of the story. I wonder if you, when making your computer studies of every story, could extract this data and produce a list of every story that has received more than 100 comments. ScouriesWorld would be happy to concede ownership of the list and club to you – perhaps you could start a new thread called

Owlwhisper’s Guide to the 100+ COMMENT CLUB.

It would certainly take a big load off young gabby’s shoulders.

We’d also welcome anything you could do to help improve the 1000+ VOTE CLUB but I’m not sure if this info is as readily available.

Anyway let us know what you can do. All of us certainly appreciate the great work you’ve done. Great to see you back.

In a funk, at a stand-still, in need of inspiration. Every time (few and far between) the dastardly/bastardly ex-husband attempts communication it throws a wrench in my writing, the muses flee, inspiration goes into hiding, and my concentration goes to crap. *sigh* My poor little nature spirits are now suffering for it. Even sage doesn't do the trick. :( I need a hug and then some.

Public service announcement:

There is no such thing as THE ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (A.I.R.). It is a figment of scouries imagination presented by one of his alts. Sounds screwed up and as usual for him, it is.

Also, there is no such thing as the 100+ COMMENT CLUB or the 1000+ VOTE CLUB. Both are made up lists by scouries to help keep his inflated ego alive. They have no official sanction from Literotica or anywhere else except scouries deluded mind.

Well, good news. I'm excited.

I didn't think I had anything left in the tank after submitting 30 stories in the Valentine's Contest, but I just completed my 37th Earth Day story.

With this only being March 6th, I still have plenty of time to write a few more stories.

I better get busy.

It would be nice if our pet troll would at least stop stretching the threads with his stolen bandwidth pictures  Now we have to spend a page scrolling back and forth in every post for the sake of his delusional egomaniac promotion of a fake contest.

OWLWHISPER: Thank you! *hugs back* Much appreciated. :) I can't wait to read your entry! You don't have 25 votes? Your story from last year's contest touched me so deeply. That really surprises me. Except what you said about the category, makes sense. So, I'm sitting here pondering and seeing if I can get over this slump. Thanks!

Getting a bit too far down the page, so bumping time :D

I managed to get a little work on mine done today, and hope to work on it a little more now that the young one has crashed for the evening.

Devoted a lot of the day to getting something else rolling though. Finally posting long delayed new chapters... Here's to hoping a few of the readers are still around after all this time.

You’re an idiot! How many story ideas and half completed 750 word stories did you steal from BOSTONFICTIONWRITER :D anyway?

The balls in your court now dear QUEEN :cattail:. First you let the moonman get away with voting turned off. Then you let mr cut and paste win a contest. Then the jayman and his non chaptered “serial”. Now you’ve let this retard ruin the last couple of contests.

Isn’t it time to demonstrate a little leadership?

It would be so, so easy to bring a little common sense and fairness to these contests... There's got to be some other way to reward your favorites without ruining the contests.

I'm stashing a few burlap sacks in the corner if anyone wants to help take out some of the trash

I'd give you a hand but let's wait until the hazmat suits arrive.

That or the little white jacket with the arms in the back.

Much rather tranq him and return him to his natural habitat, but that would require some sort of extradimensional portal to the land of make-believe. Suppose we could try to shove him through the permanent one in his head.

Then again, considering where he has his head most of the time...

Yeah, never mind.

Being that I am BOSTONFICTIONWRITER, and AndTheEnd, CarBuffStuff, PositiveThinker, and WmForester, as well as SuperHeroRalph, all of them (lol). I steal all of my story ideas from BOSTONFICTIONWRITER.

Gees, this kind of feels, as if I'm talking to myself in the mirror.

When will you acknowledge my I Love You Mommy story, Scouries, now with nearly 1,100 votes, 665,000 hits and currently in #236 place on the top 250 story list?

I'm waiting for the day when I go past your stories (lol), Scouries, I whispered.

I have the idea for my Earth Day contribution. Now I just have to find the time to write it!

Phew! Finished my entry this afternoon. It reminded me of how much I enjoy writing a story's conclusion. Which does nothing to explain why I have so many unfinished stories littering my hard disk.

Not enough time to write another entry, so I'll go over what I've written and randomly change words here and there to no good effect. I also need to come up with a better title.
We use the same writing system.

I'm hoping an idea I just had gets mine moving. I've gotten bogged down at pretty much the same point in the story since I was writing it as a V-day story before. I've restarted this thing about four times now, and I always end up at the same place where the bare foundation of the relationship is taking off and stall.

May finally have a catalyst to move forward once I have some quiet time to write.

Hello all,

Luna - HUGS

Yes we need the garbage out. I do it by a lovely button called ignore. :)

So I have a cool idea for an Earth Day story. In this story I need to mention that the earth's temperature is hot. Should I not use numbers and have my readers assume a hot temp? If I mention a specific temp do I use Celsius or Fahrenheit? I live in Canada and use C but most readers us F, right?

If it's a scientist citing the temp, use C. If it's an ordinary American, use F. You could use both by having somebody say something like "This report says the temperature will be 45 C. My god! that's 113F." If this is an essay, you can include the conversion formula.

Restarted mine yet again. I finally decided that the problem was that my male protagonist was just too damn cocky, and he was getting on my nerves, keeping me from getting in the mood to write.

I need him sexually experienced, but damn... Changed it up and gave him a different "education" that didn't result in such a playa. Could have been some good development to have him come down to earth and discover that there's more to a relationship than sex, but I just couldn't stand him as he was.

Have to see how this goes, now. I can still use a lot of the scenes I've written before, and that catalyst I came up with earlier. I'm hoping that will let me knock this one out in time.

*crosses fingers* back on track...maybe! Just wrote 2 new pages. It's a start, or rather re-start. Right?

How's everyone else's progress? Or finished and onto the next one?

With great editorial feedback from Eviant, I have my entry, "Spirit of the Glen," complete. I just need the wait for the start ;)

In other news: I had a rare stream-of-consciosness muse the other night and wrote an entire story start to finish in one 6 hour sitting from midnight until the kids' alarms went off. A completely formed idea with characters, plot, dialog, and an emotional kink just popped into my head. My initial challenge was just typing fast enough. This has only happened a few times in my life. I resisted the urge to make the new story a contest entry and just submitted it earlier today.
