No, not THAT kind of drugs... legal ones :D

Share your experience with otc and prescription drugs here. Feel free to ask questions too, maybe we can help each other out a bit.

Now that Vioxx has been taken off the market, what arthritis meds are you using now?

http://www.drugs.com/xq/cfm/pageid_1216/qx/index.htm#vioxx

I'm curious what others have switched to. I used to take one Vioxx daily to help keep the need for stronger stuff at bay. I went off Celebrex when it got bad press. Now that Vioxx is gone, what's left?

Has anyone tried Bextra? (valdecoxib)

There have been a couple of ppl here that told me to ask my doctor about Bextra. I know Spenser said that he is on it.
I was given Celebrex when I first hurt my shoulder 5 yrs ago, but could not take it due to caused stomach problems. I was put on Vioxx around March and I took one a day for my shoulder. It also helped with the arthritis in my hip and kept my migraines away. But since I had to stop taking Vioxx I have been in lots of pain. Not knowing what I could take. I finally broke down yesterday and bought some Advil Migraine. I took it last night and was able to work and the headache finally went away. It says on the bottle, however, that if exceed the recommended dosage that it could cause stomach bleeding. I don't think I will use it, unless I just HAVE to. I got a dr. appt. Wed morning when I get off work with the Workman's Comp doctor and am going to ask him what I can take now. I will let you know what I find out.

Well I went to the doctor yesterday for my should, workman's comp, and he prescribed Naprosyn 500 mg, I take one tablet 2 times daily. I have taken naprosyn before, but not sure of the dosage. I will let you know how it works.

I lost track of this thread... how are you doing now, Toni? Are you happy with the way that it works?

It seems to be working pretty well. I just have to remember to take it twice a day, but I have to take my prevacid twice a day too, so I take them both at the same time. The meds that I was taking for Chrohn's disease the doctor told me to save in case I needed it and go back if necessary but if I did it would probably from now on. Well I kept having problems and kept thinking it was going to subside, so I finally broke down and started to take it again. It is Asacol. I have to take 2 tabs 3x a day. So sometimes I don't get them all in, I take it when I take the others but then usually forget to take the last one! I think I am starting to lose my mind!
