Not worthy of it's own forum, but I've narrowed down the choice of dogs to two:

Dog Number 1

or

Dog Number 2

I really like Dog Number 1, but I'm not sure about a female dog. She's smart and pretty mellow.

Dog Number 2 is the dog I originally went to see, and he's a handsome fellow. Taking him for a walk though... he's very high energy. The keeper said he needs lots of training to keep him under control.

Right now, I'm leaning toward Dog Number 2 but it's a tough decision.

...all this angst over adopting a dog. I can't imagine the stress over adopting a person.

Number 1! She's a beauty, and I love German Shepherds. They're smart and sweet, but protective.

so basically its between "happy but dumb". and "crazy eyes" ?

i say go with crazy eyes.

Why can't you name her Larry? I think it would tickle me to all heck to to meet someone who named their female dog Larry.

Hah!

I love catahoulas.

He doesn't look leopardy.

I'd go for the lower maintenance dog, though, if you like her personality.

I have a Catahoula/Lab mix :) Depending on what you think you're ready for, I'd say they'd both are breeds that would need some activity. I walked my boy 2 miles, 3 days a week, up until these last two years when i had my son and we moved locations. Since they are so driven it is best that they have a job to do. My boy is getting up there at 7 years old and he still gets after the cows lol

He definitely still acts like a puppy. I have to say though, that our boy is a loyal protective pet. Since I am his Mom, he loves both my husband and I, and loves our son.

I think you need a dog named Reagan. It covers both Female and male.

I vote #1

The people at the shelter just willy-nilly list a predominate breed. I suppose that's one way to do it, but I googled Catahoulas and he doesn't really look like the pictures. I think the eyes are typical of the breed so that's probably why they listed him that way.

I don't have any cows, but dozens of deer.

Doesn't look like much cats hola made it into dog 2, but if it did you don't have to worry about having a lot of deer anymore , toughest dogs I've ever seen

go play with both of them. you will know.

I went over to the shelter yesterday and interviewed several. These are my top two.

In truth... I'm hoping one of them gets adopted before I make my decision because I can't pick.
