The Lovely Angels (aka The Dirty Pair)

The Dirty Pair is a science-fiction comedy series set in the 22nd century about the exploits of Kei and Yuri, two female secret agents/troubleshooters employed by the Worlds Welfare Work Association (3WA), a galactic organisation which will provide experts to solve any problem...for a price.

Kei and Yuri (codenamed Lovely Angel after their starship) are the 3WA's finest crime trouble consultants, sent in to deal with the most difficult cases. Unfortunately, the Dirty Pair solution to a case always seems to involve a certain amount of collateral damage. Serious collateral damage. Whole continents laid waste, that sort of thing...

Don't misunderstand me: it's not their fault. The 3WA Central Computer clears them of responsibility every time. They're just very, very unlucky...

Kei and Yuri, the 3WA's 'top' trouble consultants, are 'Lucien-model' genetic upgrades, and possess supercharged immune response and disease resistance system, enhanced metabolic efficiency, improved musculo-skeletal structure, increased pain thresholds, altered cerebrovascular and cardiovascular systems, and so on. 3WA cyberware and biotech enhancements add to this further - including neural interface suite with coded transmission comlink, wardrug glands patched into a tac computer implant, nerve rewiring with pain dampeners and reflex boosting... in short, they're a tough couple of gals.

Kei is the Weapons Officer aboard their ship, Lovely Angel. Almost always sporting a short cropped hair style, Kei is the tomboy of the two. Equally awesome in hand-to-hand combat as she is with a blaster, she maintains an extensive knowledge of combat techniques, and always carries a large hand held laser. Kei has a very quick temper, and hates to lose. She is also spontaneous to the point of thoughtlessness, and often does many rash things in battle.

Yuri is in the Operations officer of the pair's ship, Lovely Angel. She is the more intelligent of the duo, and has an IQ level of 156. She prefers more discreet and coventional weapons, usually relying on either her compact laser pistol, or her 'Bloody Card'. (Note: The Bloody Card is a specialty weapon designed by WWWA as a small hold out for its operatives. It locks onto all hostile enemies, and uses it's razor sharp edges to cut through nearly anything in its path.) She is the more intellectual of the pair, and has a better understanding of many of the new sciences that are always being produced. She is slow to anger, but once started, even her partner Kei tries to stay out of her way.

And one sure way to make them both lose their temper - call them the Dirty Pair.

What's the plan, chief?

If the Dirty Pair need a target for their latest mis-adventures, I'll be happy to provide one! I've only read one of the comics, MANY moons ago, but I thought it was hilarious.

Which one was that? Adam Warren/Toren Smith are ace. Dangerous Acquaintences, and Biohazards were pretty cool, but Warren's artwork improved leaps on Plague of Angels, Fatal but not Serious and Sim Hell. You're right, though, they're hilarious reading. I recommend them all highly!

As for the bad guys... I was thinking of bringing back Shasti, an ex-WWWA agent with a multi-personality 'disorder' (a 'wetware' brain implant, giving her a warrior mode, detective mode, social mode, and a criminal mode - the last was added by WWWA as a test, to help catch a particularly nasty criminal, and intended to give her an insight into the way he thought... she ended up going slightly haywire...), and Kevin Sleet, the BTR (Bereau of Technological Regulations) stud. They'd make a mean team for Kei and Yuri to face off against.

Sigh... $$$time

If more interest is shown in the thread, I guess I'll go out and buy the comics, to play catch up. However, I'm waiting until the interest is shown... those things are expen$ive!

If you can convince some of our more... interesting ladies to take on the roles, I'll be delighted to help give them a run for their money!

Well, I dont know if you would classify me as one of 'the more interesting ladies' but Kepic always have some great threads and I would love to play in it.

Know ye...

The name Isolde is WAY up the list of 'interesting'!
*hugs*

Would you like to take the part of Kei or Yuri, Isolde? Kei's a hot-tempered fireball, Yuri's more demure. Maybe Imoen would like to play your counterpart if you do?

Another female character I'd like to put into this - Cory Emerson, the ace reporter who's had the 'pleasure' of doing a piece on Kei and Yuri, and is something of a friend (maybe thats too strong a word though) of them, despite what they put her through (lots of explosions and gunfire, mainly)... think a blond, beautiful Ricky Lake - well, actually, she does have her own Hypernet broadcast talk show...

Buy them, Neale! Like I said, I recommend them. Go for the latter three I mentioned - I still need to get hold of Plague of Angels myself, got it currently as collected cut-out pages from a manga 'zine. Sim Hell and Fatal but not Serious are a riot!

Thinking about it, there could be another character - a clone of Kei... Sleet made one of Yuri in Fatal, that caused the havoc (for havoc, read : a nova)... the twist at the ending was brilliant... and I loved the idea of biofoil tattoo's (animated tattoo's)...

Lots of female characters... one male... hmm... Sleet and Shasti could do with a few goons I guess... or planetary security for whichever planet is 'lucky' enough to have WWWA to send the Lovely Angels to intervene in their problem... ("The Dirty Pair!?! Oh @%$#&! And we thought we were in trouble before!")

Humm...hard choice. I will discuss it with my fellow plotter...er...conspirator...um...role player. *grins* and we will toss a coin for the roles. Both seem promising.

And thank you Neale for the complement and Kepic for the offer. *hugs (and lots of them) to both of you*.

Ok...its all set. Imoen loves the chars and I will be Kei and she will take Yuri.

Though its not type casting...what with us being two wholesome, innocent girls and all...*rolls eyes and laughs*

loveitloveitloveit!

Hey! We are demure and sweet dammit. Well, least I am..*nudge/nudge*..*L*

I must admit I know absotivily posolutely nothing about the Lovely Angels. (I refuse to acknowledge them as the dirty pair. Humph!) I do on the other hand love the description! Mass destruction, causing chaos, wreaking havoc .. and to get off without a finger pointed in blame?! I am loving this! *LOL*
"I didn't do it! Nobody saw me do it! You can't prove ANYthing!"

I would love to play Yuri if that's okay with you guys.

I haven't been able to post very much in my other threads these last few days, but things will be slowing down R/T for me this week, so hopefully I won't cause too much of a lag. Feel free to reconsider me if ya think that's too much of a possible problem.

Oh, the Dirty Pa- er, Lovely Angels get blamed for it, all right. They've got a galaxy-wide reputation for causing major catastrophes wherever they go.

Even though its not really their fault, honest.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view), most people tend to forget their real codename.

Welcome, Isolde and Imoen. I'm sure you two will make a devastatingly wonderful team!

LMAO...Kepic I LOVE the start of the thread! You are talented...no doubt about that!

Researching...

I picked up a few of the comix today. Couldn't find Sim Hell, but I did get the other three. As soon as I read them, I'll post. Tomorrow, I think.

Cool Neale, I'm sure you'll enjoy reading them! I've just sent off for the Plague of Angels graphic novel myself, from Amazon, though Fatal but not Serious is my favourite so far.

Help!

I haven't a clue as how to make a character that would fit in... Do you want me to play a bad guy? A reincarnated Carvalho would be pretty amusing. A good guy? General Connolly could come in... You pays yer money, and you takes yer choice. I could even attempt Shasti, or one of her henchdrones... Please, oh mighty one... guide this poor confused entity.

Well, I was figuring on Shasti and Kevin Sleet as the primary bad guys (or gal/guy). Sleet's a more behind-the-scenes, manipulative kinda guy though. A reconstructed Carvalho might make an interesting character - his 'copy' might well decide to even the score.

Maybe Sleet has 'arranged' for these various enemies of the Dirty Pair to get together?

With the conference, I was thinking about having Cory Emerson arriving to make a live holonet report on the proceedings. I can only imagine what her reaction would be to find Kei and Yuri already on-planet.

Ok Kepic...you should be proud of your Lovely Angels. We have been researching these two gals...I even went and rented some videos...okay they were the flash version-so sue me.

The comics are hard to find. Seems like they are collector items but I did manage to get a couple. You are right...they are hilarious.

The comic I got is calles 'Start the Violence'. Its not bad at all. They are something else.

Glad you liked them, ladies. :)

I'm working on some ideas for the thread, in between playing 'Black and White' (which is eating up a lot of my time, truth be told), which is why my posts have been sporadic of late.

Still character questing

Just finished Dangerous Acquaintences, which has the (first?) appearance of Shasti. I could do her, I think... heh. Haven't a clue as to who the BTR guy is, though. The only characters I feel I could do well are Shasti, Caravalho, or Cory. Any advice, effendi?

Okay Neale, take up the reins as Shasti or Carvalho. Either will give the Lovely Angels a run for their money, for sure.

Sleet, with access to the really high-tech 3WA equipment, as a member of the Bureau of Technological Regulation, even more so than the mundane TC's like Kei and Yuri (though calling them mundane is probably a bad idea) could have reconstructed Carvalho.

He could also have arranged for the Lovely Angels to be sent on this assignment, knowing who they'd be facing up against.

WHAT? *Kei takes out her big ass bazooka and places it on her shoulder as her finger tightens on the trigger*. Lets just see who is going to give who a run for their money and whats this about being MUNDANE?

How can I resist?

Given the op to play Shasti, I just gotta! It's a moral imperative. ;)

*Kei aims bazooka at Neale/Shasti* I'll give you moral imperitive! *lets loose with the bazooka* Hah! what do you say to that?
