The Democrats Have Abandoned Rural America

This is what cost them the election. That and forcing Hillary down our throats. Hillary aside, if the democrats want to "take back America," they need to focus outside the big cities. I live in a technically rural county, where the democrats essentially rolled over and abandoned years ago. In my district, the democrats didn't even bother to run anyone for the house of representatives this year (again,) giving the house seat over with zero fight (again.) They rented a little office in the county seat one week before the election, and are now gone. I live in a one party county, because we are not worth their time and energy. Watching protestors in these big blue cities makes me shake my head. Now it's all about them. We were abandoned long ago. When you add up all the rural counties that the democrats can't be bothered with, you get a map that looks like our last election.

This isn't new news, but I figured I'd post my rant here, instead of elsewhere. If you are reading this, I hope you have a beautiful day.

I moved to this county in 1973, and it was entirely Democrat. Today there are no Democrats holding any public office.

Back in 1994 I hadda long talk with our Democrat Representative and expressed my alarm at the trend to GOP, and she told me plainly Democrats no longer wanted white males like me, that women and blacks were the path to glory. In 1996 she lost to a Republican by 10 votes or so. I voted for the Republican as did my wife, 4 kids, and their spouses.

I was raised a blue collar union Democrat with a reverence for JFK and Truman. I didn't like Reagan at all. A card carrying racist, I raised my kids to be different.

I predict the demise of the Democrats as they go for 0 as freaks and assheads. The GOP faces the same trouble. I predict 2 new parties, one for blue collar whites and moderate blacks, and a party for Democrat and GOP elites like Hillary and Jeb Bush. The freaks will congeal around ditzy socialist lounge lezzards.

Well with the scorn against white women because Trump it's super polarized the country even further.

Slowly but surely (D) is becoming the party of "Fuck white people, fuck em' all!!".

If they don't stop with the divisive identity politics soon that map is going to keep getting smaller. As a liberty fan opposite of a red I share a lot of your sentiments but I think the solution is to take the government handcuffs off of those farmers, small bidnizz owners etc. Not throw 'good' government after bad.

It's just my personal belief that the US Government should be there to protect everyone's right to do what they want. Be it their religious practices or commercial endeavors to live the life they want to live as long as it's not a public threat or an infringement upon others right to do the same.

It shouldn't be their job to decide who gets to live what kind of life and how they have to do it. But somewhere along the way it's become a legal weapon used to be assholes to and needlessly with each other.

It's total over involvement (imo) in marriage for example...what an insane waste of time and anguish we've expended and continue to expend on this issue.


At best the gov should just be record keepers and arbiters of cohabitation and family laws that don't give a fuck if you're married or not. Then EVERYONE get's to have whatever kind of dysfunctional weirdo family they want. With freedom every single consenting adult in the USA wins, gay, straight or poly.

Invigorate the Veterans with real veterans support in jobs and community support. A hell of a lot of Vets are adrift with out a job and with no light at the end of their tunnel. These guys will follow a leader and do the job, but you can not bullshit them.

Support small businesses to rebuild our infrastructure, Get funding for these programs by making them talked about everyday and build popular support for diverting the funds from the Pentagon and make it up by cutting a few unneeded Generals and Dept Sec Def slots and fewer F-35s, a Carrier Battle Group or two and it adds up.

To bring back a Democratic catch phrase, "It's the ECONOMY, Stupid!"
