have demonstrated themselves to be the most ignorant of Islam. when confronted with the facts of the "religion of peace" all they can offer up is name calling....xenophobe, racist (this on being the stupidest of all, Islam is not a race), are among the few names they call. In all the years I've been here not once, NOT ONCE, have any of these congenital morons offered up one shred of evidence to support their defense of the religion.

None of them have bothered to read the Qur'an, or the Haddiths, or the theological writings. Their sole source of information on the subject appears to be the talking points perpetuated by an equally ignorant press and certain political leaders. Islam in NOT a religion of peace and never has been. For a period of approx. 2 years Islam did tolerate other religions in their midst, all of which ended in the 12th century. Since that period Islam has been in a perpetual state of war with the 'infidels' and 'barbarians'. The only periods of relative peace have been when they've had their asses handed to them, when they've been totally dominant in a region, or when they needed the help of the 'infidels' and/or 'barbarians' to defeat a common enemy.

So here's a thread where the defenders can come in and intelligently debate their reasoning for their defense of the 'religion of peace.'

Where have I and so many others defended Islam and more specifically those who perform terrorist acts in the name of Islam?

I've read the Quran, the Hadiths, and many other things on Islam.

Does it contain a lot of horrible things? Yes. So does writing from other religions as well as non-theistic writings.

You mistake people saying that not all Muslims are extremists as defending the religion itself and those who commit atrocities in the name of Islam. Just as you have the same knee jerk reaction that anyone who dare says that Israel has performed some atrocious acts is automatically an anti-semite, or that to single out the deplorable acts of a Christian who has killed an abortion doctor to say that we label all Christians as extremists.

Unlike you, I am able to separate a person from their religious and other beliefs. I don't like any religion, but it doesn't mean that I label anyone who practices it as a moron or extremist. If a Muslim wants to do his/her prayers in peace and does no harm against anyone, why is he/she supposed to be my enemy?

You want it all or nothing, and it's not an all or nothing. Though that's no surprise from someone who claims that now that we've taken everything from other cultures we no longer need other cultures, or telling us that you have cancer and in the same post going on a racist rant.

So tell me, why would I choose to believe you or others of your ilk about what I should think about Islam in general when it's your wrong way or nothing?

I'm trying to avoid the political aspects of the issue. Not because of any silly "Political Forum" crap, but because I'm truly interested in finding out if any of these 'defenders' have the slightest fucking clue as to what they are trying to defend.
