Overview:

Declining birth rates
Debasing the currency
Importing Barbarian labor

History does, indeed, repeat…

Let us add, pray tell, an acceptance of a declining standard of living for all but those in the most elite classes of business and politics whose fortunes are always on the rise. When you are just struggling to get by, to survive, those big three contributors to your plight are something that you have neither the time or luxury to ponder, worry about and take measures to affect change. Voting patterns become based not upon basal economic-political philosophy, but rather who best promises a short-term benefit or relief that, in actuality, will most likely never materialize.

Um, and all of the other reasons? Expanding the empire beyond it’s borders? Reliance on slave labor? Military overspending? Rise of Christianity? Legionnaires themselves weakened? (And if you aren’t sure, a quick google search will confirm it- find a reliable source, which can be challenging these days too)

Do enjoy the cherry picking of of some factors but not others?

Plus, Rome was around for a looooooooong time- just changed names. 1400 years as what you are referring to as the Rome and another 800 years as the Byzantine empire. 2,200 years total.

So before we fan those flame…let’s check the rhetoric and know the history please. I know it’s so much fun to have vague facts and attempt to coerce and influence people, but please let’s provide the full picture.

We haven’t even come close to approaching the Roman Empire, but if you would like to use your little analogy- which is cute, “Rome” only falls after they have changed from a republic to an empire. The consolidation of power into the emperor, while it led some years of prosperity it really was the ultimate cause for all of the reasons given above.

So simple solution, don’t become an empire. Ensure the republic continues to exist. Be on the lookout when someone rises to power and doesn’t relinquish that power.

Thanks for the opportunity.

I’d like to see more Persian Slave Girls.

Hey Rosishana, take off that hijab for Daddy, nice and slow.

On further reflection, does it not seem that,

the power of the Congress (Senate) is being taken into the hands of an "Imperial" Presidency
(dictator issuing executive orders to rule) and an unelected bureaucracy staffed by the children of the elites
(and if you've ever been to DC, you can attest to this). The Congress seems to want to bear no responsibilities
other than spending lavishly, getting reelected and engaging in endless palace intrigues.

They played the game as a finite game instead of an infinite game. So of course they failed over time. It happens 100% of the time. Lesson to be learned: play the game using infinite rules because the game is an infinite game.
