Ah, the first day of pro football season.

Baseball is boring (and not America's pastime anymore).

Basketball has its moments, but it's hyped up too much.

Football however combines that unique combination of raw brutality with stunning finesse. Every Sunday (or Monday) is a new battle, a new war set to a 60 minute time limit. A group of present day warriors are aching to make that sack, to devastate an opponent with a bone jarring hit, to make that spectacular once-in-a-lifetime catch, to be able to release that perfect toss...only to see it be captured by an opposing player.

There is something truly spectacular about that first game, 32 teams have the same goal, yet only one shall attain it. If you don't feel this fervid madness, you will probably never feel it. It is something inborne, something in the bloodstream; the essence of which will never be captured or easily explained.

It is FOOTBALL
It is a way of life.

To all Jacksonville fans I apologize beforehand for the king sized whupping the Colts will bring to you today.

PLAY BALL!!!

Yeah I bought my last pack a few hours ago and come Monday morning the addiction shall end. <knock on wood>

I'm awake and chomping at the bit for sommmmmmmmmmme NFL Football today.

Watched my Miami Hurricanes dismantle Florida yesterday.......and watched the Cocks lose to VA........

nothing compares to football............

Football

While I do love the game and watching sometimes is a thing of beauty. I have not watched very much lately, because of the over priced whinnying members of the NFL. Other sport are included in that category.

To see those prima donnas cavort on their no holds barred way of life of the field saddens me.

OK, now, maybe it's because I'm a girl (although I know a few that love the sport) or maybe it's because I'm in New England (although we all know who won the last Super Bowl, which, I have to say, did kick ass hehehe), but I just don't get football. I understand it - the plays and the goal and everything. And every now and then I'll actually be entertained. But no matter how hard I've tried to really get into the sport, I just can't see what makes men across the nation sit down every Sunday/Monday night to watch. Although you did a good job of explaining why you like it, Zach, I still don't get it. *sigh*

Now give me hockey or baseball, and I'm just fine. :D

The Football season, unluck many other sports, is a short season. Games are only played once a week and mostly on Sundays. So unluck hockey (which I love...Go Bruins) or baseball where there is always a game on and if you miss one, no big deal they will be playing again tomorrow. With football, if you miss a game, thats 2 weeks of withdrawals. Its like a primetime soap opera. The week to week outcome is tracked and calculated, discussed and diagnosed, criticised and praised. In a hope that your team, in spirit, will be the best and take it all the way to Superbowl Champions. (LIKE THE PATRIOTS).

There's also the fact that its played on Sunday, and for the most part, alot of men are off work and lounging around the house anyway. So its the perfect match to be in front of TV with beer in one hand, remote control in other, and a big sandwich on the coffee table watching a football game alone or with friends.

Unfortunately, I have to wait for Monday Night to see the Patriots play. But there's plenty of other games I'll be watching today.

Colts win, Colts win !!!!!

Pretty good game too, entertaining to the last second.
