Russell Ellis

Russell Ellis had been driving for over two hours now. He had started off in a pea soup like fog that had severely hampered what should have been pleasant nighttime drive.

But the fog was gone now, replaced by a driving rain, a rain that froze as it fell to the earth. But he drove on, until once more the elements changed, this time to white snowflakes that reflected the headlights from the rental car he drove back into his eyes and made seeing a chore.

Russell hated being on unfamiliar roads and to make it worse, these roads were not even in his home country, and the weather was making this a tough trek through this mountainous region.

He’d been sent to this remote island nation on a computer startup assignment. Being away from home made him antsy, made him unsure, uneasy and this unexpected bad weather just magnified those feelings and where did this weather come from anyway, this was a near tropic island. Russell assumed the climbing in altitude had brought on this climatic outburst.

Finally a break in the weather - - -

As if someone had snapped their fingers and commanded the weather to clear, it did. And for Russell, it was just in the nick of time. He had become completely disoriented and as he drove from the blinding winter storm into a clear crisp cold winter night atop a mountain, he had to brake hard to avoid the dead end of the road he had taken.

Exiting the car, he stepped into the frigid night air and a shiver ran across his body, sending chills through him. Baffled by the abrupt change in weather, he surveyed the surroundings, trying to orient himself.

He turned to walk around to the rear of the car and that’s when the castle came to view. Tall spires highlighted the structure, casting long dark shadows in the full moonlight. A mesmerizing glow, aura surrounded the castle and drew Russell to the front door. There were sounds coming from inside, sounds he couldn't identify, sounds that were strange to his ear.

Cold and lost, Russell decided this was his best hope at finding someone who could help him was here, reaching for the huge door knocker, the door opened intuitively, allowing him to enter the dark entrance way. Now strange smells were added to the strange sounds that assaulted his senses, alluring scents, scents that registered at a subconscious level as erotic scents.

Russell was a sucker for aromas, and this seemed to lure him into the seemingly deserted castle .....
