MSNBC (yes I read that too) had an article buried in it's tech section that caught my interest by Megan McAuliffe of ZDNet, Cyber Army Declares War: Plans to take on government regulation. However, you can go the CyberArmy Homepage and see what they are all about for yourself.

They apparently believe in self regulation on the internet, people behaving responsibly all by themselves on the net. Yeah right, they can't even do it here at this harmless have fun site. What do you guys think? Any thoughts, grips, whatever? Would you join the CyberArmy?

LMAO.

Actually, they are currently "attacking" child pornography sites. Which is just fine with me. They say they are anti-governmental regulation and propose to halt such governmental interference by removing the sites that break laws, like child porn sites.

The question arises, who polices this cyber army which is made up of hackers, hacktivists they've been called? If they are made up of talented hackers, and from what I understand they have several on board, then whats to stop them from policing the Net, to regulate it like the government would. One set of masters exchanged for another, uncontrolled set?

I can understand and appreciate what they are trying to do. As long as they stick with things like child porn and snuff porn, that's fine. But what if they get a Christian fundamentalist in charge? Or a member of the Taliban? (as far fetched as these ideals may be) Or am I just blowing this all out of proportion?

Sounds like it could turn into another Witch hunt.. sounds like alot of people will get hurt for the accusations of a few scared people that follow some ones Ideals blindly... Just like Waco Texas a few years ago.. some people will say that there is a difference, but is it??

Some one has an Idea and some one else likes it and starts preaching it and others like what they are hearing and start following them.. and as history shows these people could die for the leader that they are following because of the manipulation and brain washing that these leaders do..

So I for one am against this.. I do believe that we do need another American Revolution tho... but for other reasons that could be listed in a larger post, but I wont bother to do that now.. Why should we have people telling us what we can and can't do for our own good, Exp. when they don't know us..

I think that "RUSH" said it best with their song called "Witch Hunt" of of their "Moving Pictures" Album..

Would I have to go to cyberbootcamp???

Actually, I don't think any kind of regulation or outside control is going to work here on the net. There are to many free thinkers and techno-wizards(if you know what I mean). People will be still be looking for and providing whatever the public wants.
