Is this an American expression or is it also used in the UK? Cowboys are an American icon and, by extension, so are cowgirls. However, this is not so in the UK. I am sure there is some kind of expression, such as Equestrian, etc.

I think of the Female Superior as being sort of like the Missionary Position, except she is on top, and the couple are face with full body contact. In the Cowgirl :) Position, she is sitting upright on top, on her knees or squatting over him, and controlling the speed and depth of the strokes. Girl on Top sounds more likely.

I've always heard it as the Cowgirl position. One of those references that transcends cultural boundaries, I guess. It definitely would never be the equestrian; that doesn't give you the right impression of bouncing up and down as you ride.

I'd never heard the term "cowgirl" till I joined Lit. But then I'm a sweet, innocent, sheltered little thing, I am.

"Girl on top" gets my vote.

I like to call it the "Flagpole" position. Definitely one of my favorites.

Ride me, cowgirl!

We use it a lot, along with the good ol' "barnyard mount" but we don't call it that. At least, I don't. She might.
