Trump did not win. He did not triumph against coronavirus. USA is not ready.

The coronavirus triumphs, slowly grinding Trump's White House 'task force' into dust

Phase II of Donald Trump's plan to inflict maximal coronavirus carnage on the country
is commencing, and now's the perfect time to cut off public access to any tiny shreds
of reality they might glean from the White House's beleaguered coronavirus task force.

Thus, the White House plans to "wind down the operation in coming weeks,"
according to The New York Times.

(OTOH Trump is talking out of both sides of his mouth- Trump, reversing course,
says coronavirus task force will continue ‘indefinitely’ Trump tested the boundary,
and found that he could not get away with recycling all of the task force members.
He settled for telling the public that members will come and go at his whim, as is
usual.

The impetus for such a cessation is clearly twofold:
1.) the pandemic continues to ravage the nation with no end in sight
at precisely the moment when Trump is insisting on reopening the
country, an inconvenient truth the White House is surely desperate
to hide; and 2.) Trump's performances at the daily briefings proved
disastrous for his approval ratings, so halting them both relieves
him of the irresistible temptation to appear while ending the
possibility that any substantive material might make its way
to the public in his absence.

After all, if Trump can't use the briefings to feed his insatiable hunger
for attention and self-aggrandizement, why even have them?

The White House task force sought "certain revisions" to the CDC's detailed guidance,
two administration officials told NPR.

The White House task force said they would welcome a new set of recommendations,
but that never happened, the official said.

The administration also has not released guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention that have been in the works for weeks and offered advice on how to reopen
certain businesses and facilities.

The guidance contained detailed advice for making site-specific decisions related
to reopening schools, restaurants, summer camps, churches, day care centers and
other institutions.

But the shelved report also said that as restaurants start seating diners again, they
should space tables at least 6 feet (1.8m) apart and try to use phone app technology
to alert a patron when their table is ready to avoid touching and use of buzzers.
That’s not on the CDC’s site now.

The White House’s own Opening Up America Again guidelines released last month
were more vague than the CDC’s unpublished report.

Trump’s guidelines for reopening states amid coronavirus pandemic will leave decisions
to governors

More than 40 states are in some phase of lifting restrictions, most with Trump’s blessing
and none in full accordance with guidelines developed by the White House coronavirus
task force he empaneled.
