that :p
If the universe has a distinctive color, it would be a shade of bluish green, astronomers announced Thursday. Astronomers from Johns Hopkins University reached this conclusion after studying the light from over 200,000 galaxies

its actually getting greener too ... greens my fav colour maybe in another 20 billion years it will be the same colour as lisa's eyes (yes i still managed to mention lisa in a thread about the colour of the universe)

Full Story

I still think it's black with silver sparklies. :p

It's always Lisa, Lisa, Lisa. What about me?

You know, it kind of says something about the age of the universe we live in. Will this age be known in Millenia to come as the "Seafoam Era"?

That is fucking weird. The universe is SeaFoam green? That blows my mind. I can't imagine it.
Nope, I'm sticking with my ignorance on this one. It IS black with sparklies in it.

:D

Does anyone know what scientific value this discovery represents?

Looks well boring compared to the black with silver specs option.

I'll bet it becomes an option for new cars! "And what colour would sir/madam like? Ah yes, Universe Green, a wise choice"

according to Nine Inch Nails...

its fuzzy mushroom blue...

which, in Trent Reznor's altered state may have been Seafoam Green...

scary thought:D

Damn. Who knew the universe is mint chocolate chip colored?

I agree with wiggles. It sure looks black with lil' sparklies to me too.

OC.... that's an interesting thought. Since the temperature of our Universe is very cold, just over 2. degrees K; and the color it would appear is "mint chocolate chip green" to some GIANT being. And since time has been proven to be relative to size.

All signs point to our universe being a scoop of mint chocolate chip icecream in some HUGE world we are too miniscule to see.

I guess that means black holes are really chocolate chips.

:D

actually, because all of the stars and everything is moving, it should appear to be red though the real colour is green.

"Baldry said that cosmic spectrum green could be seen in the heavens by the human eye only if all the light was viewed at once and the stars were not moving -- a clear impossibility.

To determine the average color, Baldry said the researchers adjusted for what is called the red shift. All stars in the universe are separating from each other and this motion skews the colors toward red. The cosmic spectrum green is adjusted for this motion. "

So green is only the average colour, our part of the universe could be any colour you wish for it to be... I don't think it really matters if it's accurate or not!
