Step aside New Jersey, New York and especially you, California. Colorado is the place to be! :D

Famous People from Colorado. (I found this rather surprising, actually)

Tim Allen actor, Denver I actually worked at the same place as his brother, real last name is Dick
Zachery Ty Bryan actor, Aurora
M. Scott Carpenter astronaut, Boulder
Lon Chaney actor, Colorado Springs
William Harrison (Jack) Dempsey boxer, Manassa
Douglas Fairbanks actor, Denver
John Kerry politician, Aurora They can't all be winners, folks

Plus, I get to look outside and see this every day.

I was there for a week back 30 years ago.

We came back with a trunk load of Coors and went to the Coors factory.

OMG, wasn't the whole plot of Smokey and the Bandit about smuggling Coors into another state? (I could be wrong about that)

I grew up near the Jolly Rancher factory and on a good day, if the wind was just right, you could smell the green apple or watermelon or whatever they were making that day, in the air.

Oh wow. I love Jolly Ranchers.

I just hear Ft Collins has the safest drivers in the US.

Every Friday at 5 p.m. Hal Moore. Radio KHOW: "All right all of you out there, pull you car over to the side of the Valley Highway, face the purple mountains majesties, and SING THE COLORADO SONG AS WE START THE WONDERFUL WEEKEND IN THE WEST." (click the link and SING IT!!!!)

It wouldn't have been smuggling, because there is no law against transporting beer from one state into another. As I recall, the Bandit went from a southern state to Texas, bought Lone Star beer and returned with it within a specified time.

You've nearly got it, mate. They went from Georgia, to Texas to buy many cases of Coor's, then back to Georgia. At the time Coor's had no distribution east of Texas so no taxes were paid on Coor's transported or sold there. It was technically bootlegging.

I love Colorado. I'm heading there next week just like I do every year about this time. We usually rough it on the ground but this year we have a cabin booked near Salida for about half of the trip. It features what the owner calls a "Cowboy Hotub". The mere implication is worth the drive.

I called that one a while back. Still, real estate is way too expensive in that part of the world.

A Cowboy Hot tub is one that is heated by burning wood. Salida is a beautiful town, my ex-husband spent a weekend in jail there. :D

So funny that people can still dig into their memories and bring up the plot of Smokey and the Bandit, even if it comes out in tiny scraps at a time.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone: Creators of South Park and Tony Award winning musical The Book of Mormon

Don Cheadle (alumnus of East High School) – Actor, nominated for: Academy Award, and four times for Emmy Award; winner of: Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Hawaii can keep these next 2

Duane "Dog" Chapman (born 1953 in Denver) – Bounty hunter and television personality.
Beth Chapman (Born 1967 Denver) – Bounty hunter and television personality.

They can have Cheadle too.

They can have Cheadle too.

Why? I think he is a fine actor, and is attached to no scandal that I am aware of.

Dog and Beth are both obvious douches. Right before their show got cancelled, they hunted down a "fugitive" in my town. They pepper sprayed the shit out of this dude, then marched him into the front lobby of the Sheriff's Dept. to turn him in, without properly decontaminating the guy.

When complaints were made about this, Dog and Beth got all pissed off and stated that Dog might just decide to run for the office of Sheriff in our county. Empty threats from an empty head.
