Have you had read this sage?

Do you think Ayla is a sub?

It's one of my fav sages and I enjoy reading it every couple of years.

I tried to read it when I was 14 and found it difficult to follow along - it really rambled a lot.

we actually had to read this for anthro 101 in college. i only skimmed it then, but read it in full a few years later and really loved it, it's one of my favorite novels.

no, i would not say that ayla was a submissive at all. that is why she never really fit in with the neanderthals...they only had clearly defined, gender based roles. the Men are in control, the women obey and submit without question. ayla wanted to chart her own destiny, control her own life, she loathed submitting in any form. she even hunted for goodness' sake.

i very much enjoyed reading about an entire society which operated under a D/s way of life, it's in line with what i consider to be the natural order. not to mention the fact that the way they engaged in sex (a man makes a signal, the woman gets into position (doggie only), no questions asked) was extremely hot. :)

Damn, I don't remember that part. *fans self*

I read them too, it was awhile ago so I don't remember very much, but I remember that I liked them. I had to read them in large print becuase that's all our library had. lol

I read them, loved them until the series became too repetitive. I agree that I did not see her as a sub at all but rather as someone who fought for the right to hold her own power in her own life. That was one of the things I loved about the books and character.

Fury :rose:

Even I like a lot the first one, The Valley of Horses is my favourite one.

And I think that Ayla more than submissive she has a very obliging nature and likes to please her man.

I saw the movie, when it first came out - does that count for anything

other than me being an old fart...

and I sorta like the soundtrack ;)

As it almost always is, the movie is not nearly as good as the book.

Fury :rose:

I read the entire series years ago. Then waited and waited for the latest one to come out. Once again waiting.....for the next one.
My only gripe with them is as Fury said, way too much repetition in the last few books. There were whole pages I would skip. Im guessing it was recap'ish for those who hadnt read the first ones, either way too much for me.
No I did not view her as a submissive in anyway. Nor did I view her necessarily as dominant. Perhaps more like middle of the road.

One of my earliest jacking books, because I like how her neaderathal hubbie subdued her.

Not a "sub" as we understand it....just a "sub" as in, the entire history of prehistoric woman: forced to submit because physically weaker. :bone:
