Does anyone have any idea why sometimes the fill in character name function produces John Doe if left blank and others it produces nothing?

I personally don't like using it because it looks weird. It's a bit disconcerting, and really interrupts the flow of the story if you jump in just to read the latest.

I almost never see John Doe. That's because I almost never go to the front page of the story. I always jump to the latest written page or somewhere else in the middle.

I think it generates "John Doe" when you actually go to the title page, you just don't put anything in the boxes.

Or Jane Doe for female perspective. It also does Jane Doe if you choose Both Male and Female.
