The Challenge Challenge Thread

Here's an incomplete list of former poetry board challenges. (Just remember linbido, you asked for it--lol.)

You will immediately notice two things:

1. We poets love a good challenge.

2. We poets have some pretty strange ideas.

My list isn't comprehensive; I just chose some favorites. If you want to search the threads and add others, feel free. I know I've missed some great ones (like ho-ku), but I couldn't find them all.

Whether you actually revive a thread or not, these challenges are filled with great ideas and poems that you'll love.

Challenges are listed by thread starter so you know whom to blam...erm...thank.

Ho-ku (either kdoggie's or Eve's thread; maybe sweetwood's? Eve? Lauren? Anyony remember?)

Condom Poetry (smithpeter's thread, I believe, but it wasn't called that)

Dr. Seuss-Inspired poems (I have no idea what thread this ended up on, but I'm pretty sure it came from JUDO)

Dialect poems (Neonurotic's thread I think; lots of fun)

I was bored, so I wandered the stacks and found that the 'Dialect poems' challenge happend to be HomerPindar's thread.

I don't remember who did the ho-ku challenge. I know I've had a slew of challenges in the over 2 years that I've been here. I had one recently, but guess what: I can't remember a single one now. Maybe because it's around 4 or 5 in the morning. *yawn* Oh, there were some great challenges by daughter and UP but you'd have to go back to the beginning of the board.

ho-ku didn't come from a challenge at all, it was just a really bad attempt at haiku phrasing, but that's the original thread.

However, Eve did do some good stuff with the stupid idea I had.

I don't think it was ever an actual challenge.

Excellent, neo! I had forgot--but I remembered your poem, probably because I was stunned that our two dialects--geographically so far apart--sounded so similar.

Did you know that when you buy suspenders they are at their shortest possible length? I didn't.

Until I realized that I had a ball on the left, a ball on the right, and a strip of denim making an ass crack up to my navel.

No puppies for this dog.

I wasn't even aiming for the Urkel costume.
