I rented this unrated flick last night (on DVD) and was impressed by the acting, writing, direction, discovery-format structure, and most impressed by how un-erotic the graphic sex scenes were, which I think was the point. Sex is sex, but, ultimately, we all want "real", and the film was most erotic in the small moments when the guy and the girl are simply talking and getting very close to connecting as people.
People have compared it to "Last Tango in Paris", and I think there are some comparisons (in style and frankness), but "Tango" was about sex as a weapon to deaden the experience of being alive, and "Center" is more about sex as a commodity we purchase when what we're really after is closeness. I recommend the film for its daring and bravery and watchability, but mostly for the scene where the stripper pulls a lollipop out of her pussy and plops it in some dude's mouth. Definitely a "rewind" moment.
And if you've already seen it, you might be interested in the two "alternate endings" on the DVD. Very interesting.
Their web site, by the way, has won awards. It's very sexually graphic, and the interface is amazing. Here it is: The Center of the World.
