It was known to the people of Bailleyton as "the cave". To anyone outside the village, it was simply unknown. On the outskirts of the beach, over several large rocks, past the breaking waves at high tide, and up the cliff a bit, and you're there. The cave presented a kind of alternate society for the people of the village. More accurately, The norms of society melted away, in the cave's quiet solitude. Here, in the flickering reflection of the sun off the water, or candles adorning the rock walls, age, social status, and outside affiliations didn't matter. It was a place for people to be themselves.

It was here that Rick Scott, 36-year-old science teacher at Bailleyton High found himself, shirtless, musing alone on a Saturday afternoon. Rick found he did his best thinking here, and always enjoyed the company of others. Between the gentle crashes of the waves, he heard someone climbing the rocks, on their way to the cave. Sleepily, he raised his head.

(OOC: This is open to anyone and everyone! Its a bit experimental, so I just ask that you put some thought into it, write carefully, and stick with it.)

Ava was new to the Cave as she has heard the town called and it was only by accident that she ended up there. She was originally on her way to another town that was close by but her course that fateful day got altered by someone she had been close to. She was now in hiding in this small secluded place. It was here she could be anything she wanted no one knew who she was and she liked it that way.

She is a very shy young woman as it was but with the events in her life over the past few years she has become more shy. Ava was mixed and was often teased about it which made things worse of course. But she did find one thing she could enjoy and that was swimming and climbing rocks so getting to the town was pretty easy for her.

Anyone watching her would see that she was tanned, 5'4 weighing about 125 pounds with dark wavy hair. Other features were hidden as she was facing the rocks and making her all the more mysterious. She had noticed how people talked and wondered who she was but no one has yet to come speak to her about why she was there.

Rick's heart fluttered when he leaned up and saw her at the mouth of the cave- partially from the surprise of being broken from his solitude, and partially because she was simply beautiful. Although he could only see her back, Rick was taken by the curve of her body, the color of her hair in the misty breeze...

"Hi there," he said quietly to the stranger, not wanting to startle her as she sat at the cliff's edge.

Ava was sitting there and jumped when she heard the voice. She wasn't used to anyone coming up to her around here. Turning to face the man with such a handsome soft voice.

"Umm hi"

She gave a smile and her emerald green orbs stared back at him. She hadn't meant to lounge around so long and hadn't seen anyone around so it surprised her to see him around.

"I'm sorry I didn't see you over there. I didn't mean to interrupt you."

"Oh, hey, you're not disturbing me... I like surprises," he smiled. Seeing her face, and the sparkle in her eyes, for the first time. "I don't think I recognize you. New in town?" he asked.

She smiled and nodded to him. She wasn't sure just how much she wanted to reveal but he looked nice enough so she figure it wouldn't hurt to let someone in and get to know people.

"Yeah I've been here for about a month now. I'm Ava by the way. Care to have a seat?"

He accepted her offer, trotting to the mouth of the cave and sitting beside her. "Rick," he introduced himself. "In town, most people know me as Mr. Scott, Physics Teacher Extraordinaire," he joked, "but just call me Rick." As he spoke, he couldn't help his eyes wandering her body, though they always returned to those sparkling eyes. "What do you do in town?" Here, of course, the answer didn't much matter, but it was a way of making conversation.

A smile crept to her lips as her green orbs stared up at him admiring him. Oh yes he was quite handsome she thought and was glad to get to know someone in town. She thought it was interesting that he was a teacher.

"That's cool i wasn't good at science at all."

She laughed a little nervously not even sure if physics was science or not but she went with it and prayed she was right. She shrugged a little at his next question.

"Ah well I haven't quite found a job yet. Most people won't even talk to me since I'm new to town."

She shrugged and sighed a little wondering how things were from where she was from but she wasn't trying to think to much on that right now.

"Ah- well then you've come to the right place," Rick smiled, "People are a little more laid back here. You can really get to know someone out here in the cave. It seems like a nice enough town, but some stuff gets the way of really, truly getting to know a person, yknow?" As he spoke, he realized the hand he was leaning on getting slowly closer to Ava's.

She smiled and nodded listening to what he was telling her. She was a bit nervous realizing his hand was closer to hers now and if someone was watching they may think there was more going on here than really was.

"Yeah I know what you mean. Is seems like a safe private place to be too."

She looked away a bit shyly but smiled all the same.

Rick smiled when she looked away, then looked out, himself, at the sun sliding down toward the horizon. "Don't take it too fast," he reminded himself. "She's probably not used to the way things can be out here."

"Yknow, they say if you look hard enough, you can see China out there," he joked, trying to change the subject.

She laughed and looked to him.

China huh? Sounds like a nice dream..some place far far away. So umm what is there to do for fun?

She wanted to get out more and meet the people in the town since she was planning on living here for the foreseeable future. She had no plans on going home and since everyone thinks she died in a boating accident she didn't want to explain that one to anyone.

"Around here? Hmm..." there was a bit of a pause. "Really, I spend most of my free time here, just relaxing, meeting whoever happens to come by, and doing whatever sounds good..." he was curious about her comment about a far away place but didn't want to pry just yet.

She smiled and nodded just what she thought not much to do but that was ok she would figure it out.

"It is nice here and relaxing. I came here to think and get away from all the prying eyes. I went to get something to eat this morning and the owner stared at me like I was going to steal something."

She shook her head and laughed a little. While it made her feel bad but she also kind of understood it she gave that look too many times before.

Rick cocked his head in confusion, "A pretty girl like you? Steal something? " he shook his head.

"Hey, are you hungry? I've got a cooler back there," he said, looking toward the back of the cave.

Shrugged a little and looked to him.

"I guess it's the fact I'm so new around here. But who knows."

She was a little hungry but didn't want to impose on him. Her green orbs still looking up at him.

"Oh I wouldn't want to impose on you. But thanks I appreciate it."

She gave him a soft smile.

"Oh, it's no problem at all," he reached back, grabbing the cooler and putting it between them before opening it up. There were a couple sandwiches, and some beer and water inside. "Please, help yourself. I always bring a little extra, just in case someone else comes along."

She smiled softly and took a sandwich and a water. Opening the water she took a drink before she opened the sandwich.

"Thank you...you're the only person that has been nice to me. I really appreciate it."

She took a bite of the sandwich and smiled to him and looked out at the water again. In between bites she thought it would be nice to know more about it.

"So have you lived here your entire life or did you move here?"

Rick took a beer from the cooler, and pushed it out of the way, then answered her question, "Born and bred. Went to the high school I now work for. That's kinda surreal sometimes," he laughed, "I've been coming to this cave since I was old enough to climb the rocks. He looked around the walls, "a lot of history in this cave... How about you? Whereabouts are you from?"

She continued eating the sandwich and smiled. It sounded nice and stable. She smiled to herself at the thought of living in a place like this and growing up here. She snapped out of it when he asked about her where she was from.

"I've kinda moved all around for a while but have spent some time in Seattle this last time before I was going to move."

She smiled and sighed looking out at the water some more.

"This is really a nice place and peaceful."

Rick just nodded and smiled, knowing exactly what she meant. He sat there, looking out at the sunset, occasionally taking a sip of beer, and occasionally stealing a glance at Ada, her skin, hair and eyes glowing in the fading sunlight. He had been in the cave, alone, with lots of girls, but Ada seemed special.

Finishing her sandwich she drank some of the water and sighed softly. Laying back on the rocks she looked up at the sky.

"So how does your family feel about you coming out here to relax rather than spending time with them?"

She was assuming he had a family at home waiting for him but that was also just a fishing question because she was curious if there was a wife and kids.

Scott got quiet, and smiled softly. "Oh, yeah... No wife or anything like that," he looked down, at her outstretched body, taking her in, "and no kids... Obviously..." he smiled, before lying down next to her. "At least not yet. Who knows? Maybe one day..."

She smiled a little to herself thanking the heavens that he wasn't taken and she didn't have to feel guilty about being out here with him.

"I'm sorry I didn't realize. I don't have any kids either or anyone else for that matter."

She smiled over at him as he laid next to her and couldn't help but let her mind wonder a little bit and fantasize about him.
