What do they all have in common?

Well, after sex it really is a good idea for the male to get the hell out of there, though in the case of the mantis it's too late. The female is digesting his head during coition. A male spider, if very careful, might have a chance. A tom will get the hell clawed out of him if he can't run fast.

There are times when, after sex, I would really have liked my partner to get lost. It isn't that I didn't enjoy it, but that I wanted the time to myself, to relax, be myself, and not have to deal with him and any of his needs.

Some men are very irritating after sex. Indeed, there were times when I truly envied female spiders.

Am I the only woman who feels like this?

That's why they invented....

masturbation. No hugs, but no one else there to deal with, either.

I think that if black widow spiders or praying mantis could speak, they could simply say, as Greta Garbo did, " I want to be alone". Try it, sometime. It may suit your needs perfectly.

I should have made it a little clearer, I think.

I'm not talking about masturbation. I'm talking about not wanting to share oneself with another person after sex, only during.

Obviously you've never been with someone who wanted to kick you out of bed afterward, because your presence was irritating.

Maybe "suddenly" isn't the right adjective in your case.

Do you think it comes as a surprise to the male mantis when his partner decapitates him? They never put up a fight so maybe they enjoy the sensation.
The genetic case of masochism?

I think I might be a mantis; I certainly have had to suppress the urge to bite people's heads off many times. Then again, I almost always want to be alone.

In answer to your question, I'm not certain but I'd guess yes.

Nope. As much as I love my honey, there are times I just don't feel like doing the cuddle-talk routine afterwards. Sometimes I pounce on him for a quickie before he goes to work. He gets something to smile about through his shift, and I get my 'me' time. Everyone wins. :)

Then again..

Maybe the male Mantis is getting the "ultimate" headjob.

Talk about giving head..jeez

Most human males lose their minds trying to get sex...or cease using it....
