The Brothers Grimm.

Good movie.

Not for little ones.

I love that it's dark, more in keeping with original folk tales.

I found this at National Geographic. Twelve of their stories from a 1904 translation.

From the site:
"Looking for a sweet, soothing tale to waft you toward dreamland? Look somewhere else. The stories collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in the early 1800s serve up life as generations of central Europeans knew it—capricious and often cruel. The two brothers, patriots determined to preserve Germanic folktales, were only accidental entertainers.

Once they saw how the tales bewitched young readers, the Grimms, and editors aplenty after them, started “fixing” things. Tales gradually got softer, sweeter, and primly moral. Yet all the polishing never rubbed away the solid heart of the stories, now read and loved in more than 160 languages."

Thank you!

I was wondering if anyone enjoyed the movie - I was hoping it would be good.

Time to get a babysitter so hubby and I can go!

I really enjoyed this movie. I didn't expect to, since the reviews bombed (but who listens to them anyway?), and I really just wanted to see Heath Ledger and Matt Damon in the same movie... But really, I was impressed, both with the story and the execution of it. It was very well played, and the special effects are phenomenal.

Unfortunately, newspapers still love to pan Fantasy. Oh well. They just need to learn to enjoy that stick up their ass.

Sorry. Tangent. Wicked cool movie. Go see it!

-dizzy :rose:

I'm seeing it tonight! I'm seeing it tonight!

I haven't read the thread in case there's something important in it, but I want to let you all know! Can't wait!!

I'll probably have to wait until it comes out on DVD...
It looks great, love dark movies!

I want to see Tim Burton's "The Corpse Bride" also.

This is great, it's putting me in a mood to write something for the Halloween contest....I have an idea in mind.

Oh darn. Now have this earworm.

Kidnap the Santy Claws,
stick him in a bag.
Throw him in the ocean then
see if he is sad.

One of my all time faves. A good indicator of whether a lady and I will get along.

The Corpse Bride -I definitely want to see that one, too. They showed previews of it last night before The Brothers Grimm.

Burton amazes me, I love his darkness. I want to watch Sleepy Hollow again too.

Hahaha, I'll have to remember that. ;)

Actually, that would make a good thread, "Indicators of whether or not a potential significant other and you will get along"... or something like that, anyway.

Works for me!
I love popcorn and movies.

RG got me to watch Constantine, which was cool too.

I would love a Tim Burton movie festival night....or anything with Johnny Depp.

(Waves wildly) I'm in.

Constantine was very cool. Especially like the little plot twists at the end.

I didn't want to watch Constantine, because it didn't seem like my type of movie, but I LOVED it. A great flick.
I have to admit- I've never seen Nightmare before Christmas. I do want to see Corpse Bride, though.

Though "Benny and Joon" sounds familiar, I don't remember the film, ABS.

Benny (Depp) was won in a poker game, he did the Buster Keaton routine. Cute film.

He's a fabulous actor, one of my favs.

Another good flick, Abs.

Benny and Joon is a very sweet little flick, McKenna.

If you don't tear up at least once during it, you're not human.

Off to post the theme song on Lit Radio.

Okay I have to everyone's opinion of The Life Aquatic. Such differing opinions on that one.
