I set out on a narrow way, many years ago
Hoping I would find true love, along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two, wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign, pointed straight to you

Every long lost dream, led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way, into your loving arms

Name: Lynsay Carrigan
Age: 22
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 122 lbs
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Cupsize: 34D

Appearance: Straight brown hair falls gently upon her shoulders, and a pair of shiny blue eyes adorns her fair face. Since she spent a good deal of time outdoors her skin is a light tan, and she has a very toned body. She wears a forest green longsleeved shirt with a black fleece vest, a white belt that wraps around her waist, and a pair of jeans. She wears a watch her grandfather gave her, and she has a simple string necklace around her neck. She usually carries a black backpack with some clothes, her music player, a map, and her identification papers.

Bio: Lynsay had one too many fruitless relationships. She wasn't abused or anything, but with each one of her boyfriends she felt empty... there was something missing. One day she had a fallout with her own family, and she decided to go her own way. She paid for a bus ticket and decided she wouldn't come back. She wondered where she would go, but she decided it didn't really matter.

Personality: Lynsay isn't shy, but she isn't pushy either. She's just a simple girl looking out for her own, and she can be very defensive.

Lynsay stared out of the tinted window, the grass fields and occassional crop field passed her bye. She has her headphones resting around her neck, giving hear ears a break from the music. Sighing she rests her head against the cold glass and rests her eyes, picking her headset back up and listening to the music.

No one in her family knows shes a lesbian, though she thinks one of her brothers suspects she is. She's only had one serious relationship, it was with an older woman. Her eyes snapped open, as the back of the bus bounced violently after its wheel sank into yet another hole in the road. Sam knew it was useless trying to get any sleep, she'd be home soon enough anyway. The bus jerked yet again and Sam let out a frustrated sigh. She couldnt handle this kind of bonejarring torture for another second let alone the next hour it would take before she was home.Grabbing up her back pack from the seat she stood making her way to the front. There weren't any empty seats well except one, next to a young woman who looked to be just her age. She didnt know if the girl would be willing to have her sit next to her, Sam herself liked nothing better than being alone on a long journey. She figured it didnt hurt to ask, besides it was either this or suffer at the back of the bus.

Smiling shyly Sam tapped her on her shoulder to get her attention and asked " Do you mind if I sit here?"

The sound of her music playing filled her ears, and she caught herself humming the tunes that poured into her head. She opened her eyes again and stared out, the low rising mountains in the farground, and a few trees darted along the side of the long road. This was a bus to practically nowhere... which was fine with Lynsay. She imagined herself in a place like Ireland or England, visiting all the different places and seeing new people. She was suddenly snapped into reality when she felt a tapping on her shoulders. With her headset still on she turned her head,

"Do you mind if I sit here?" the young woman asked her. Taking her headphones off, Lynsay smiled.

"Sorry I didn't hear you. What's up?" Lynsay asked her. Her eyes looked up into hers, and she noticed that they were a deep grey, which quite frankly is really rare to find in a person. Oh well, what does eye color have to do with anything?

"Hmm? Oh, yeah. Hold on a second." Lynsay responded after a moment, and then picked her backpack off the seat and tossed it between her feet on the floor, leaving the spot open next to her.

"Thanks" said Sam, as she dropped her body down into the seat next to the young woman. "I couldn't take it at the back for a moment longer. I hope you dont mind some company for the next hours or so." she said on a nervous laugh, small talk had never been one of her strong personality traits. Adjusting her bag in her lap, she gave a sideways glance to the woman in the seat next. She looked lost in her own thoughts and Sam couldnt help but wonder where she was headed. "I hate long trips, dont you? It always seems to take forever before you get home again."

"You're welcome." Lynsay said with a smile. "And I don't mind the company. I tend to get lost in listening to music or daydreaming while on buses or trains." she added. "But yeah, I don't like the seats in the back, too bumpy." Lynsay said in agreement. She kept her headset off her ears so she could hear her talking. Her eyes dropped to her neck and she saw the curious looking necklace.

"I hate long trips, dont you? It always seems to take forever before you get home again."

"I welcome them actually, let's me get out on my own. I mean unless I have somewhere to go and have to get their quick, then I tend to forgo long trips." she said.

"So, you're heading home I take it?" Lynsay asked.

"Yep, home again, home again" Sam said with a grin. She shook her head softly, realizing she'd just adopted one of her mother's favorite sayings. She couldnt understand why she felt so nervous around this blue-eyed beauty.

"What about you? You say you welcome long trips." Sam said arching an eyebrow in curiousity. "Where are you headed?"

"Me? I'm not really heading anywhere. I'm on a vacation I suppose. I was home and decided to pack my bags and see where life would take me." Lynsay shrugged her shoulders.

"I had a fallout with my family and I decided I needed a break." she added. Her eyes darted out towards the window and she saw the fields go bye before she turned around again.

"I mean I'm not really running away, like I plan to go back and everything... but for now I want to be out on my own."

" I'm not really heading anywhere. I'm on a vacation I suppose. .... I decided to pack my bags and see where life would take me." Sam smiled at her response, it truly wasn't what she had expected to hear, this girl didnt have the look of a wanderer.

"Sounds like you're on an adventure." Sam said on a giggle." But I know what you mean, family can be tough, and its easy to get lost amongst them. You're on a journey to find yourself. Thats cool, I wish you luck."

I wish you more luck than I had , Sam thought to herself. About three and a half years ago, should anyone have asked Sam where she was headed in life she would have said the same thing. She too had been out to find herself, break out of her families shadow. But she learned quickly that even if life did seem like a bed of roses at times you were always bound to get stuck by a couple of thorns. In Sam's case she had walked right in to a thorn bush. She cast another sideways glance to the girl next to her, taking in the pride in the way she set her shoulders and the graceful line of her neck as she looked out the window. Sam fought to hold back a gasp as she turned to face her again, setting those piercing blue eyes on her.

Damn, this girl is beautiful. was the only thought that flashed through Sam's mind.

"Thanks. I think it'll be fun. I've got ideas about places I want to visit, travel to Europe maybe." Linsay said as she turned to face Sam. She saw a smile on her face and while it didn't make her uncomfortable she was a bit... well she didn't know how to put it. All Linsay could do was smile. The bus hit a small bump and the two girls bounced slightly, and when we landed she couldn't help but giggle.

"Guess you can't escape the bumps no matter where you sit." Linsay said.

"So, um. Where do you live? If you don't mind my asking."

"Europe huh? Sounds excellent", Sam said. As the bus jerked again, she cursed softly under her breath.

"Guess you can't escape the bumps no matter where you sit."

"No, I guess not" Sam gave a small laugh.

"So, um. Where do you live? If you don't mind my asking."

Sam didn't mind her asking at all. In fact it was nice to have someone to talk with until she reached her stop. She also didnt mind hearing this girls silky soft voice, or seeing her smile.

"I live about an hour away. Its basically your typical small town. Except its not so small that you can know everything about everyone, but its also not so big that you can disappear if you wanted. But its nice, it's home." sam said smiling.

Linsay nodded. "Yeah, I used to live in a place like that. That was when I was younger, though. Then we started moving around, never really settling in one place. I hated my parents for it, each time I made some friends we'd have to go again... and start over. It's frustrating, you know?" she said shrugging her shoulders.

"Guess I'm moving on my own now, but I have the freedom to do it. So it'll be nice." she added, turning her music off and dumping the headset into her backpack which she tucked under her seat again.

"Yeah I'm not sure where I want to go in Europe though. I guess I could be like all the other tourists and visit the famous cities. But well, it'll be an adventure." she said again smiling.

"I'm sure it will be." Sam said with a smile.

They talked like that for the next few miles, sharing stories of where they'd like to go and things they'd like to do. When the bus finally pulled into Langston, the ride had ended all too quickly for Sam's taste. A soft smile touch her lips as the bus slowed to a stop in front of the station, she was home.

"Well..." she said, looking out the window "this is my stop."

Sam didnt hurry to rise from her seat as she normally would, for some reason she didnt want to leave. She sat quietly for a few moments more before looking directly at the girl next to her. Realizing that she was staring Sam lowered her eyes and stretched out her hand.

"Well it was fun chatting with you. If you ever wind up back here in your travels look me up." she said half-jokingly. After shaking her hand, Sam got up and walked off the bus. It was only when she had left the station, Sam realised she didnt even know the girl's name.

"I'm sure it will be." Sam said with a smile.

"Yeah, there are like dozens of places all over Europe that I'm dying to go visit. All my friends have gone, cept me." she said with a frown and then smiled. They kept up the conversation for a good while, until the bus soon came to a stop. Lynsay looked at Sam expecting her to get up from her seat and then wave goodbye, but for some odd reason she didn't.

"Well..." she said, looking out the window "this is my stop."

"Yeah," Lynsay said with a smile but a sorrowful tone. She had only known her for a short while but it seemed as if they had been friends forever.

"Well it was fun chatting with you. If you ever wind up back here in your travels look me up." Sam said. Lynsay smiled and nodded. "Definitely, we'll have a girls night out." she added and shook her friends hand. When Sam departed the bus, Lynsay rested her head against the glass window and watched her head off. More people got on as the others got off, and the once empty bus soon filled up again. Lynsay groaned as a business man decided to sit with her, yapping on his phone. This would be a painful ride, she thought. Lynsay wished then that her friend hadn't departed the bus, as she'd rather have her sitting with her than this dork. What was her name again? Lynsay tried to recall if she had ever asked for it, but she couldn't remember if she did or didn't. Sighing to herself, she banged her head against the window.

"Ouch." she said as she rubbed it.

"Next time don't do that." the man said next to her. Lynsay rolled her eyes as she put her headset on. The rest of the ride was uneventful, and Lynsay watched as the passengers got on and off, on and off. Finally it was her turn, and she got off the bus into the crowded and busy station. She looked around with her backpack on, wondering what to do first. The town she was in didn't have much to do, so she looked at a map with attractions listed on it. Hmm, there were a few parks and stuff around here, but near Langston there was this 'acclaimed' theme park. Shrugging her shoulders she went over to the ticket booth and bought the next ride to Langston.

The drive home was a long and tiresome one. Sam's brother Bobby had picked her up just outside the bus station. He had been twenty minutes late and Sam was furious. Which is why she sat silently in the cab of his pick-up truck, refusing to speak with him.

"So was the bus ride okay?" Bobby asked, attempting to break the silence. Sam didn't respond, she kept her gaze fixed on the scenery just outside the window.

"Goddamn it Sammie, I said I was sorry didnt I? I'll nver be late for you again so long as I live."

The earnest in her brother's words brought a stream laughter bubbling out of her chest.

"Now, now Bobby, lets not go that far. Don't you start making promises you know you arent gonna be able to keep." Sam teased smiling over at the brother.

"The ride was ok." she said on a deep sigh. "I met a really cool girl and we had a good chat. Nothing spectacular really." She was lying through her teeth, and Sam prayed her brother didnt pick up on it. Thoughts of those gorgeous blue eyes and long bown hair, had been with Sam ever since the station. And she seriously doubted, they would leave her anytime soon.

"So this is Langston, huh?" Lynsay said to herself as they pulled in. The bus ride had been fairly lonely, not many people were heading for this destination. The scenery was actually pretty nice, not really country and not city like. She pulled her zipper down from her vest, opening it up as she walked down the steps and into the station itself. The noises from the various ongoing busses had filled her ears, a noise that she was oddly comfortable with.

Her blue eyes darted back and forth as she walked inside the ticket building, not planning on setting out for a little while. She had backpack slung over her shoulder, and she felt a tap on her shoulder.

"Yes?" she asked almost in an annoyed tone, and she turned around to find her cousin staring at her.

"Gah! What the heck are you doing here?" she said with a smile, hugging him tightly before pulling away, pecking him on the cheek. Lysnay looked really confused, not expecting anyone to be here that she knew, and definitely not one of her relatives.

"On my way out, actually. Bus leaves in a minute."

"Oh, ok well um have a good trip. You have my cell, right?"

"Yeah, I'll call you on the bus if you want. But I got to run" he said and Lynsay watched him dart off and onto his ride, the bus leaving a few minutes after that.

"Great, by myself again." she sighed. She checked her cell when it buzzed, recieving a text message from her cousin. She smiled at it and then put it away, looking around. Where to first? She asked herself, pondering what exactly she should be doing. The only girl she possibly knew here was off somewhere, and Lynsay had no name to go by.
