Two days ago I had everything. I was the head of the firm at Bockman and Brooks, my house was worth more than three normal incomes in one year. I had a loving boyfriend, or so I thought. Now what do I have? A headache from waking after a night of drinking myself to sleep, crying my heart out. The house was burnt to a crisp by the boyfriend that no longer loved me and my boss thinks I have gone off the deep end.

I look down at the water below. It looks so blue, ready for my body to make it's grand entrance. I no longer was needed in this world. My fortune that I worked so hard to get would be left to the state and the insurance money from the house would go to Robert.

I didn't need anything.

I peered at the road one last time. Goodbye, my love. I said before getting up on the ledge to jump.

is this a closed thread? or is there a casting call o should read?

Neither. Just through this line out to see if anyone bit...

OOC: gotcha. *BITE*

IC:"No lady! don't!!!" he rushes across the bridge and tackles the woman to the ground. making sure he cussions her head before she hits the pavment

"hey! what do you think you're doing?! don't kill yourself! whats wrong? why would you even think of doing somehting like this?!"

Destiny

"Get off me. I have nothing to live for. Why did you do that?"

I push him away, dusting myself off. "You could have killed me!"

Keith got off her and looked at her, he expected to be yelled at, he disrupted her. "why did i do it? why did i do it?! because you were going to jump! because you would end your life! and what would it matter to you if i could have killed you? it would be the same as jumping off that ledge wouldn't it?"

Destiny

I started laughing uncontrolably as he started yelling at me. He gave me this odd look as if to say "this lady is off her rocker."

"You have a point there mister." I walk out to the ledge again and look down. Tears start to fall as I see the blue waves below.

"I am sorry. I am just having a really bad couple of days. Go about your business. I won't try to jump again."

Keith

Keith stood behind her. "don't be suprised if i don't quite believe you. if you're having some bad times, why don't you come off that ledge, and we can go talk about it?" he smiled, hoping she would come down

Destiny

I step away from the ledge, pulling myself closer to him. "My name is Destiny. I am sorry if I bothered you. I just don't know what to do with my life anymore."

I sit down on the pavement, my hands going to my face, tears falling yet again.

Keith

Keith frowned, she was young, not someone who was supposed to be having troubles. and she didn't seem like she was a hobo, he wanted to comfort her, but seeing as how they were complete strangers, he let it lightly.

Keith let his hand rest on her shoulder and he squeezed a bit. "hey, i'm Keith. Why don't we go somewhere and talk about whats going on?" Keith reached into his pocket and tried to dry away her tears.

Destiny

"Nice to meet you Keith. Unfortunate that it had to be under these circumstances. There is a coffee shop about a block away....if you like coffee....though I fear I may not be much company."

His hand on my shoulder was reassuring. Maybe not all men were assholes. Could there be one out there that was a true lover?

Keith

Keith smiled "nice to meet you too Destiny, sure, lets go to that coffee shop. will you need some help up?" Keith was ready to help her to her feet if she needed the help.

Destiny

"NO, I am fairly self sufficient. I can do it." I looked up at Keith seemingly for the first time. "Thank you. I don't mean to be rude, just men have screwed me over so far and I don't want it to happen again."

The car

OOC: I'm sticking my toe in the water (I'm told something in here bites) in the form a bit of foreshadowing.

IC:

The car didn’t stop. The driver didn’t need to. Drew had driven over this particular bridge countless times on his way home from mind-destroying-work.

“Hey,” he thought to himself, peering through ahead through the glass. “What are they doing?” He could see the two figures still close to the edge of the bridge. “Hmm. Quite pretty. Drats. A shame she’s not all strapped up in some sort of bungee harness. I swear those things were invented to highlight the female form in all sorts of weird ways.”

The car, the red mini, drove on, passing by. Still. Drew would be sure to remember such a pretty female face and hadn’t he seen that bloke somewhere else before too?

Keith

Keith noticed traffic was picking up as the day wore on. he smiled at Destiny. "I'm not sure how helping someone to their feel could screw them, but i understand what you mean" she looked up at him, and he smiled back down at her.

Destiny

He smiled at her, a warm smile, nothing more...

We walked to the coffee shop. Nothing much was going on inside. It was fairly empty being that middle of the day. I ordered a Latte and sat at the window table.

A few minutes later Keith sat at the table with me with his drink.

"So, what were you doing just happening to walk on the bridge at that time?"

Keith

Keith sat down with his black coffee and grinned. "people walk you know, and they go across bridges. no, i was going to do some grocery shopping, when i saw you." Keith took a sip of the hot coffee and smiled, he wanted her to be confortable, not uneasy and akward. "so, tell me about yourself."

Drew

He had stopped in front of the row of shops that fronted the housing district. His plan to keep himself awake composed of two phases: masturbation and coffee.

The first phase had gone well. He’s pushed back his seat in the mini, unzipped his jeans and pulled his cock free. Fingers had worked quickly; they had done this many times before and were licked clean after he’d cum.

The second phase was going well too. The coffee was acceptable. Black. Strong. Hot. He had a good table too; a table from which he could watch the rest of the coffee shop. Drew was surprised when the door opened and the two from the bridge walked in, settled down at table and started to talk. Look at them – he though to himself, you can tell their a couple.

Destiny

I looked up at him as he asked me to tell him about myself. "You don't really wanna hear that story. It would take hours and maybe even days and then you would go and jump off that stupid bridge with me. Why don't you tell me about you."

Keith

Keith nodded "okay, but then you tell me at least a little about yourself. promise i wont go jump.

"as i said, i'm Keith, i've got an apartment a little ways from the bridge over there. some of my friends stay over from time to time. we help each other out, you know, with housing, or payments. i actually have alot of free time on my hands, i'm a pilot, and because of recent.... lack of customers, know what i mean? i have some time between flights. i'm not too sure what to say about myself actualy, anything you'd like to know?"

Jumping to the wrong conclusions.

Drew was sure of it. That guy talking to the pretty girl was that pilot from the papers. Darn it, but he couldn’t remember why he had made the papers. Was it that the plane had crashed and he was the only one to parachute to safety? No. Wait. Wasn’t it because some local official had started to bad mouth the business and scare customers off.

He sipped his coffee and did his best to subtly watch the conversation on the other side of the café. Hmm. Maybe the pilot had been in trouble for running an unlicensed extreme sports club… hey, that might explain why the pair had been checking out the bridge. Wasn’t bungee jumping illegal without a license? Base-jumping certainly was.

Drew wasn’t normally a grass, or a telltale, or even a snitch. It was just that his brother happened to be the local Sheriff.

OOC: uh.... sure sixth lol, wasn;t what i ment, but thats fine!

OOC: The thing is, Drew could be entirely wrong. I was hoping I'd made that clear enough. Don't let that post rail-road your character. That's not my intention. :)

Destiny

OOC: LOL you two are great.
Let's see if we can have some fun with this.

IC:

"That is understandable. I am Destiny. Newly single Destiny," I say acid slipping off my tongue. "You know, men just don't understand. Why is it that everytime I think I have found someone that loves me he runs off with some supermodel? And my boss. That is another story. She thinks that just because my house burnt down and I am homeless I should be happy. She told me that if I told another client to bugger off that I would no longer be a partner at Bockman and Brooks. AND WHY ARE YOU WATCHING ME?" I yell at the guy across the room. "He has been staring since we came in here. Is he a friend of yours?"

Drew

OOC: Okay. Slight taboo, but since I’m now reacting with the two focus characters, I’m changing tense. Sorry. Smack me later.

Coffee spills everywhere as I leap to my feet. Christ, it couldn’t have looked more obvious if I had been trying. “No? Me? Who?” The power of speech seemed to desert me just when I needed it the most. The girl was observant, she was probably used to eyes on her. “Look, it’s just that… ah, I don’t think you should do it. It’s not safe.”

I wasn’t even aware of the growing coffee stain on my trousers at that point. The hot liquid had yet to seep down to, ah, shall we say, more sensitive areas.
