Shay was surprised at how calm Fang was despite her attempt to take his life. Perhaps it was a sign that she had never posed any real threat to the tall muscular warrior, or perhaps it was a result of years of putting his life at risk as a soldier, or perhaps it was simply his nature. Regardless, as she listened to him speak, she couldn't help but think she was extremely lucky to still be alive.
Despite her despair, she recognized that much of what he had to say was reasonable. Killing him, or even just rejecting what he was offering would do nothing to change the past, or bring the dead back. The earth she knew was no longer, and it was time she accepted that.
The blonde was even more surprised when she learned that Fang, the alien invader, her captor, was part human and she listened intently as he explained more about his origins and previous attempts at breeding between their two species. He talked for a long time, his voice always calm, even soothing. Eventually when he asked if she would stay with him, when he started to tug at the blanket she was clinging to, Shay finally relented, letting the blanket slip from her grasp to fall to the floor.
Gathering her courage, the blonde stood up, her eyes locked on Fang's eyes. Those deep dark pools. "I'm sorry...for trying...for trying to hurt you...you've been very kind...I guess I just need some time to make sense of everything that has happened."
"May I take a shower?" Shay asked. He seemed to hesitate, perhaps not trusting her enough to allow her to be alone in the bathroom. "I promise I won't try anything else...you can watch me if it will make you feel better..."
