As far as Trump goes, this is the culmination of months of false accusations, outright lies and demonization of anyone who dared oppose his false narrative that the election was stolen. He had already encouraged his followers to "liberate michigan" which was a trial run for the right wing assault on the Capitol where his supporters beat police to death and ran around chanting "hang Pence."

America had now seen the dangers of you rabid right wingers. Your failed ideologies couldn't win an election so you followed your wannabe dictator to a coup attempt to take part by force.
