The goliath bird eating spider is the largest spider meat/ weight wise, however the giant Huntsman spider has a larger leg span. Between the two of them they are the top two largest known spiders.

Though not the largest Huntsman ever found, this is an example of a female hunts(woman) spider.

I've got the pitchforks and torches. Someone get the shotguns. Also someone post an African giant snail. Everybody needs to be informed on what our targets are because it's either us or them. And I've got four tines and a fire voting for us.

Surviving the wilderness bugs can provide a good source of protein. Taste wise the bigger the bug the worse it tastes.

Alright. I jumped a bit. By "a bit" I mean I jumped right the fuck out of my chair and screeched like a school girl. Jesus fuck that thing was terrifying.

You actually started a thread with a topic I've never seen covered at Lit before. I am tickled.
I've actually done a thread about huge insects in the past, I think it was mostly about giant beetles though. I am a big fan of most insects, except spiders. I'm really not sure why spiders creep me out so very much, but they make my skin crawl so badly I feel like the only escape is to crawl out of my skin for a while. I still have the occasional nightmare about the time a huge, hairy brown house spider crawled across my face about 8 years back. Just thinking about it makes me feel pukey. Ugh.

I totally *heart* this thread!

Superbugs are freaking sweet!

Unless in my house. Then they are dead.:D
