His consciousness became aware of itself first. And then became aware that it had a physical body. It's eyes opened, and it realized it could see. When it looked around, it saw lots of things, things it had never seen before, because, well, it had never seen before.
He examined his body. Words, unbidden, started coming from his mouth, but he remembered each one, and what they meant: hand, arm, shoulder, head, chest, belly, cock, legs, feet, tree, bird, snake...
The animals and plants were nice to have around; they certainly added a bit of color and excitement to this place, which he had called Eden. He did, however, wish that he had some company.
And then there was a she. He saw her, standing, alone, her eyes shut. He walked over to her, and looked at her. She was beautiful; as beautiful as he was.
There was a sudden booming voice from above, clouds parting and blinding white light. "You may have her, Adam, and you shall live in peace and happiness with her all the days of your life.
"As long as you do not eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge."
"I understand," Adam said, on his hands and knees, his eyes locked on the grass below him. When he looked up, the sky had returned to normal. The woman was looking at him.
"Hello, Eve," he said.
