Did anyone ever believe they were going to give it up? That the report was going to resolve anything?

Let me throw this out for some thought. What else do they have to keep their disparate coalition together? Hmmm? The swing to the socialist meme is nothing more than an attempt to buy off the fringe. "Let's empty the treasury." Each and everyone of those programs is designed to pick off a specific group. And each group is looking at the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, kinda like the twirling crystal the hypnotists uses, the haven't figured out that the dipper has it's hands in their wallet to pay off the other group. One that they might not be terribly motivated to support.

So there needs to be some glue, and what is that? The unifying hatred of that Russian colluding son of a bitch in the white house. It's the age old tactic of defining an external enemy, and with the added twist of tying the POTUS to that enemy. "Manchurian Candidate" writ large. Without the Russian meme the coalition begins to unravel.

What I think is that the democrats are engaging in ever more desperate political maneuvering. And other than keeping the hard core base motivated I don't see that as a long term winning strategy.

Politics is the ultimate 'blood sport' and in politics a month is a lifetime. All sorts of things can happen between now and Nov. 2020. But the Russians and the Chinese, along with others, are all gong to be on social media causing as much chaos as they can, and there isn't a damn thing we can do about it without surrendering to censorship.
