Functionality is poor.
First: The number of slots for new works is totally insufficient. Ten new releases frequently doesn't cover the stories that came out THAT DAY. This means that many new releases just get missed if you check the story categories, especially in the more active categories.
Second, it's showing which works got a red hot mark, but not the overall rating. That's bad, but it's worse when you realize that with only ten works, many don't stay on the recent page long enough to get the red hot mark they'd be owed.
Third, the recent comments section is gone, and that's bad.
Fourth, the "popular stories" section has a rubric that just isn't working at all. I checked the 30 day popular stories section for SciFi/Fantasy and seven of ten of the offerings didn't even have a red hot mark. How can something possibly be considered one of the top ten most popular works of the last month if it has yet to be rated even ten times?
