What is the best story you've ever read on Lit? Not the one voted the highest... not the one with the most views... the one you liked best, the one that pushed all your buttons, and the one you re-read more than once?

Rumple Foreskin's Alive and Going Home. non erotic, but touching. When I loose my focus, when it's hard to write, I reread it. It reminds me again and again how words can move you.

Not a story, but a poem. RisiaSkye's Wayward.

It's on my "Favorites" page, if you're interested -- and I recorded it on Joe's audio page, too.

I liked Collen's "Football Widow" series, though I started reading it on another site entirely.

Mine is "1762, A Monk's Progress" by MlleLaPlumeBleu, the GayMale category. Extremely well-written, extremely hot. Mlle, write more stories, I beg you!:(

I agree, Carson, the above is my all time fave. I won't go on about how I read Carson and Black Shanglan's stuff over and over...I do, it's the truth.

Tacitus Salutem by Black Tulip is amazing as well.

Also, Rhys' novella, 'Lovesong' is truly one of the best mmf stories out there.

A Kiss is Still a Kiss is by MaxSebastian, who has quite an impressive collection of stories. That particular one, while not my favorite story on Lit, is still very good.

I cannot claim to have a 'best" choice. I have a style that I am more drawn to than not, and generally it is a fast paced, contemporary style, heavy on metaphor that I have yet to find on lit. Nonetheless, I enjoy many authors here on the basis of their style and talent.

I like the epic way in which Mlle spins a story (not yet posted but much anticipated uni-tit. I think she is turning it into a novel LOL). I'm in love with the poetic way Lauren approaches all of her stories, and it makes me hot just reading her word choices. Dr. M has a beautiful and authoritative way of describing an atmosphere, and I can still feel the fog of a moor shiver across my body as I think about it. Perdita has made me taste the coffee poured in a diner, Diablo Writer creates so much elecricity in his story, Lesson Learned, that even I experience anal sex the first time from a guys perspective. There are many others, usually a story or two that I really enjoy, possibly an alternative style that intrigues me, (I enjoyed participating in the SDC of Neon) or a wicked, and I mean 'wicked' imagination like Lou.

I avoid top-top rated stories at all costs. I tend to find them a stereotypical bore (and I never use this word). The best stories I have read seem to hover in the 4.7? zone.

A last mention. The style of Pops Uni-tit story Slack Alice was a quick witted and fast paced dialogue story that comes closest to the fast pace. contemporary-local that I consider best. Though Pops - you really must work on your metaphor ;) lol

:) I don't judge on the basis of sex generally. All of those I mention have infinately rich stories.

My favorite story here on Lit is one by my late cousin seasparks: Stranded

It's non erotic, I'm sure that's why it didn't get the attention that it deserved.

Thank you. :):rose:

I'll limit my answer to stories, for now.

One of my absolute favourites is MlledeLaPlumeBleu's 1984. I can never get tired of reading it, of discovering the subtle and the devastatingly powerful side by side; a beautiful construct with an amazing attention to details and a great sense of humour. It's one of the greatest underappreciated stories in Lit.

The other of my favourites, that I would put on par with "1984", is CharleyH's The Screening. In a way, they're two versions of the same story, and done with equal precision and intensity. The Screening is such a tight, well-crafted story, where every image fits, and every word has a reason. Her stories, Raison d'etre and The Window are also very good in that aspect.

tough choice

Hmmmmmmm.......Don't have just one favorite....anything by CarsonShepherd or Colly, Ghost In The Machine from the Halloween Contest, A Christmas For Carol from this Holiday contest. There was a story Wynona from non-erotic that was quite professional, but now it's gone....hopefully published?

Dave (sack)

PS- I also have a soft spot in my heart for my own The Door, even if no one read it!

Just read this today. I'm so glad you posted Lauren and pointed us in the direction of this story. 1984 was absolutely fantastic. Definitely one of the best stories I've read on Lit. It made me laugh out loud, it had me in awe of the language and juxtapositions that MlledLaPlumeBleu created, it was devestatingly sexy in all the right places, and most of all it was economical in a way that I can only dream of being when writing my own stories.

Beautiful, and it's going in my favorites list. Thanks again for posting here and recommending it.
