The best James Bond movie?

If you've watched one you've watched them all, as redundant as fast and the furious.

Most lead actors sucked.
And Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan were too smug and obnoxious for my liking.

Brosnan is perfect you bite your tongue. Daniel Craig is terrible even if he produced one of the best Bond films of all time (Skyfall) he's just not Bond. He's fucking Jason Bourne and there is nothing wrong with being Jason Bourne. Or Jack Bauer. . .HOLY SHIT the conspiracy is true. Secret agents have a designation of JB and when one dies the next one gets the title. Find me John Burninator!

Also clearly Die Another Day is the best ever.

HAHA HAHA I shall leave and never post on this thread again for fear of well deserved death!

I must go with Goldeneye simply because of Xenia Onatopp.
I feel about Famke Janssen the way yates does about HH
Holy shit! She's Dutch and 6ft tall.
But I actually don't remember anything else about the movie.

Brosnan, perfect? Jesus f… g Christ! He's soo smug and offputting.
But I guess he's perfect for that role, since he fits the missogynism of that character v.well.

Give me Chris Evans (Snowpiercer) or Michael Fassbenger (Centurion) instead. They're terrific actors, and they also show some sensitivity without appearing effeminate at all.

Sean Connery all others are pale imitations .
Edit Goldfinger after this they became silly

I don't find him offputting at all, but yes he is a smug sonofabitch and he's supposed to be.

Seriously Chris Evans and Micheal Fassbenger aren't Captain America and Magneto respectively in your head? Regardless Chris, nope, he's a fantastic actor but he's not Bond. Micheal maybe, I can kinda see him as that guy. The guy who's so damn sexy and knows it that he walks into a club buys you a drink and walks off with your girl.

Rightly or wrongly, the keepers of the franchise wanted to try competing on the Bourne "serious action movie" level. At least financially, you'd have to say it's worked.

Oh, and Goldfinger is the correct answer.

1.I don't find him offputting at all, but yes he is a smug sonofabitch and he's supposed to be.

2.Seriously Chris Evans and Micheal Fassbenger aren't Captain America and Magneto respectively in your head? Regardless Chris, nope, he's a fantastic actor but he's not Bond. 1.I guess it's exactly that: his personality - aka his 'smugness'- that puts me off so much, because in theory he's an attractive dude.

2.You're right about that.
Although he's a good actor, Chris Evans is not powerful enough for that role.

Btw:
I'm more of an american fan, but for some reason I feel that, whenever you have a brittish actor in a leading role in a good american thriller, you get an instant hit. Their acting school tradition must be really good:
- ie Clive Owen ('The International'), Mike Fassbender ('Eden Lake', 'Centurion'), Paul Bethany ('Legion'),
Idris Elba ('Luther')James McAvoy ('Wanted'). James Purefoy and so on.

Regardless of where he's from I doubt MOST people think of Idris Elba as a Brit. Same way that lots and lots of Aussies don't qualify to us as anything but American. That said those movies are actually hit and miss, except Legion. Legion is a dumpster fire that somehow spawned a halfway decent tv series.

1.You think that because I suspect that you haven't seen him in 'Luther'. You could definitely feel the British Theatre training influence in his performance. He was brilliant!

2.Those are among my favourite thrillers.
My tastes in movies are more superficial/sensationalistic, I guess.

I have not seen him in Luther. Perhaps it would stand out.

2. Movie tastes are all over the place for everybody and I'm no different, though I did mean to say those movies were all high end meh for me. Nothing wrong with them at all, just nothing that made me want more. Except Legion. Legion is right behind White Noise and Pulse on my list of "dear god how do you fuckers keep fooling me!" movies. But I love Howard the Duck. PRetty sure I surrendered my right to call other people out when I did that.

There is no one "best" James Bond movie. That's like asking what's the best cookie? There are many great ones, each great in their own particular way.

That said, my favorites are Dr. No (set the formula), You Only Live Twice (perfected the formula), and Licence To Kill (distilled the formula down to its essence).
