I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this thread but was wondering, whats teh best feedback you have recieved for a story? You don't have to post what the story was if you don't want to. Heres mine:

"I am a writer working to stop pornography. This is not porno...it is love. It gives the reader the beauty of love. In itself it also fights pornography with the understanding of love.
I wrote: "Give back to children, their innocense: to women, their dignity, and to men, their honor. Your story does all three.
GREAT JOB."

This was a story I wrote about a large, BBW lady and a young man finding each other. What was your best feedback?

i don't remember the whole thing offhand but it was basically

"This story is horrible, you're horrible, never write again."

It was great because I knew my writing had gotten a reaction, and it also reminded me not to take feedback too seriously. if you get caught up in what every Tom, Dick and harry has to say about your stuff you will spend more time worrying than writing.

the person PM'd me shortly afterwards too, to say she was sorry and that my piece had just reminded her of something she'd rather forget. And that's awesome. I made someone feel - what more can a writer ask for?

I tried not to choose feedback here that simply was flattering, keeping with the tone of your first posting. I liked these two, as they seemed to touch the lives of actual women, and, well, since an idealized me is in the first couple stories..., I guess it is kind of flattering in a different way.

These were for "A Gift of Tea"
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=219311
(To readers, I have removed names, but if you would not like your feedback here, let me know and I will remove it and give you my utmost apologies.)
"Among the Best Lesbian Tales. I'm still bi but nearing a decision point. An encounter like this would make it an easy decision."

"I really loved your first story and can't wait for more. I enjoyed it especially because I could identify so much with Penny. I've been exploring my fantasies about women online and through my stories. I've never had any real life experience, just through the cyber world. So the theme hit very close to home. If I ever have a real encounter with another woman, I hope it is just as you described in your beautiful story."

And for my second story "10 Minutes"
http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=221631
Maybe this one because the person (and you know who you are!) pointed out the very things I strive for when I write them.

"Anyways, I read both of your stories, I really, really, REALLY liked both of them. I think 10 mins was my favorite though. It was really romantic (not to mention hot), and I'm sure a lot of people have gone through that - seeing someone and wishing they would hit on you. It never works out like that for me though. In "A Gift of Tea" I thought the note passing thing was really cute, with the post-its. I really liked all the sentiment in your stories, it wasn't JUST sex. And there was no degradation. I hate stories where they're like 'you're just a little slut aren't you?' WTF? That's not sexy."

And apologies to those who do find "you're just a little slut aren't you?" totally sexy.

Being new as a writer to Literotica I have had mixed comments on stories so far. But one comment stuck out amoung others.

Well, I Liked It.

Don't listen to the naysayers. It's a good story, told well. I like that it's a discussion with some acting. This could stay that way or progress. But I like the fantasy part of it and the rollplay that could follow.

I'm waiting for part 2!

Don't know if they liked part 2 as he/she posted as Anon.

I got this on The Warrior's Song:

"Perhaps this is more a thank you than a feedback. I have just finished reading "The Warrior's song" and I was so moved that I shed tears, which is unexpected on a site such as Lit (though I'll admit it has happened once before).

I've been reading anonymously on Lit for a few years (gave myself a name here only last week). I have my favorite authors but once in a while I go in search of someone not necessarely new but someone I haven't read yet. Today I came upon you and I feel very lucky that I did. Need I tell you that I will definitely go through your other submissions in the next few weeks and keep an eye for anything else you submit in the future.

I feel I have nothing to offer you in terms of constructive feedback, nothing that you could built on to become a better writer, at least not on this story. One of the dangers of writing about such a subject is the temptation to explain and often over-explain to the reader. I loved that you could present it simply as "this is what is", felt no need to explain, justify or give a lesson in history. That shows your strenght as a writer and your confidence in your own skills. Sure everybody doubts once in a while but I feel you know you can do this.

The overall impression that lingers with me is that you cared about that story. It's a weird thing to say really, years of study in litterature (not in English) and all I can tell you is that I felt that you really cared about it and that you shared that feeling with the reader that I am. But it is important to care about what you write, even when it is erotica. Just like it is important to hear from the readers you've touched. I really just wanted to say thank you for sharing your gift of writing with us. Have no doubt, you are gifted."

This feedback was posted on one of my stories recently:

"I found myself relating to the central character in your story. I just wish I could find someone who understands me as well as the character you've created in your imagination"

The story in question was my first gay story that I wrote.

The best reply

The best reply I've received was for my "Brenda and Ian" series. Someone wanted me to expand it so that it could be a novel and be published. Needless to say, I was quite flattered. Of course, the same story received a reply that I waited too long to have them fuck and that he wasted his time reading it. I still cherish that one! :D

I have a few that stick in memory, not necessarily the best but the most memorable....

On my first story ever posted here i got one reply:

"A Cold and Rainy Day"

Wonderful stuff...

More evidence that the BDSM category is 'growing up'. Thoughtful, intelligent, realistic erotica. Thank you and well done.

This kept me at it as Sir_Nathan has many top rated stories in this category....

"A Day Trip to the Beach"

A winner
06/28/05 By: Rumple Foreskin in a state of confusion
Of course, any story that opens inside a Waffle House in romantic Winnie Texas (and is written by TxRad) has to be a winner. Great read.

This one special because of who wrote it. it was my first try on the Nude day contest...

"I won the Lottery"

Amazing

This was a great story. I thorougly enjoyed it. It could use another proofread for some minor typing errors, but that doesn't change the fact that this is one of the best erotic stories I've read in a very long time. The story was believable, and you do a good job of balancing plot and dialogue with sex scenes. I hope you are able to publish this story elsewhere. Good luck in your future writings and keep up the good work!

And this convinced me that a good editor is worth her weight in gold...

I've been lucky in most of my feedback has been positive and most of the negative had been so absurd as to be funny... My only dissapointment has been the beating i took on the two stories i posted there... If it's my gender that's one thing but if it's the story then of well... Who Knows... i might pull them and then repost next year under a female alt... that might answer my question...

I've had some wonderful comments... all appreciated, but this one blew me away (on "Faint Heart"):

"That story was one hell of a ride. When he was first strapped in, I had to quit reading and get up from the computer. My heart was beating so fast I could hear it. You have given me something to think about that I have never considered before. Getting a reader to ponder the implications of your story is quite an accomplishment.
Thank you."

The best feedback I've ever gotten came from an anonymous reader..lol. He was trying to rip one of my stories and told me I write like Danielle Steele..how can you hate being compared to a lady with writing like hers? :p

For me, anything close to a positive comment sent/posted by a writer whose work I enjoy & admire = the best feeling in the world!! It's just such an incredible honor...

I have had some fantastic feedback for my first ever story, and sad man that I am, I have kept extracts on a word file that now runs to 14 pages.
But the feedback that intrigued me more than any other was the following and I quote it in full.

'I've been wanting to email you for a long time. It seems it was about 8 months ago that I read "A Modern Love Story". The further along I got the more disturbed, angry and sad I got. The ending was heart wrenching. However I could not stop reading to the very end. You are a master storyteller. I gave you a 5 for that. I don't like just wall-to-wall sex but I like a good story where sex is a natural part of it. There are stories I like that I've read several times because they're good stories. I however could not go through the emotional roller coaster of rereading that story. It's to your credit that your story touched me like no other of the hundreds I've read both sexual and non sexual on the web. I feel sorry that Carl didn't receive some retribution, I feel sorry that Kelly's humiliation didn't receive some closure & I feel especially sorry for Ben the he felt so inadequate as a man that even at the last he viewed over and over again his wife being humiliated in that porno tape!
I started reading this at work but stayed late that day to see how the story might end. I've never done that before. I can't say I liked your story in fact I have so many emotions about it I don't know what to think. It certainly made for fascinating reading and a welcome change from most of the other sex stories at this site. The Sandman is another one who does a good story but yours is the one that sticks in my mind over all the others. To say the least I had some trouble even driving home that night because I couldn't get the characters in your story out of my mind. I like to escape from reality when I see a movie or read a book. I like happy endings so I don't know what kept me so entranced by your story.
So there it is. I don't know if you consider it praise or criticism however it was the most moving story I've read in many years.'

The best feedback came when I started writing more indepth stories and people responded. It came around the time of a story which isn't published here yet, Colors.

I was worried that people would not stick around for a long story with a plot and emotions. I knew there would be heat, but it builds up. I do think I lost some readers, but gained others.

Comments from those I respect are naturally among my most coveted, however I adore this anonymous one as well:
WOW

I truly loved this story as I am normally not one to go into the romance section when I read the title something drew me to read it. As a single mom who was also given that pain & unwanted gift from a person who supposedly cared I wanted to say THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME HOPE.

Opening Doors

My first story here, posted this month garnered me an e-mail from someone letting me know that my story convinced his girlfriend to try something she'd never done with him before and they were both thrilled. It was pretty cool to get feedback that people's lives had improved on account of a story I wrote.

Strictionary

This was left recently on my BBW story that I opened this thread with:

"How touchingly sweet!

As a BBW in my forties, this encounter would be a dream come true."

I find it really motivating when someone leaves a message like this because, even though you might write fiction for literotica for obvious personal reasons, when someone tells you that what you've written in the heat of the moment is their ideal dream, just inspires you to write some more.

Best I ever received was this - posted to chapter 8 of one ongoing serial.
A reader said:
Lost the love of the story.

I thought that this was one of the best stories on this site until this chapter. Then you ruined it, by injecting a descriptive abortion into the story. I will not be checking for any further additions to this story.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rather a shock to my system, I must say, however come chapter 22 I got this feedback.
A reader said:
All that I can offer is my thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have enjoyed this series more than any other that I have read thus far. I did jump to conclusions when the orc was aborted. This was the only section that I didn't like or care for. I was amazed by the characters in this story. I think that you are a very skillful writer. Please keep weaving these jems of entertainment.

Despite my initial dismay at his first comment, I was honored when he came back for another pass.

Without a doubt, the best feedback I ever received for one of my stories concerned my 'Hell's Gate' tale. It was in the form of an email and to cut a long story short, I ended up marrying her. The funny thing is, she'd only visited Literotica a few times. I wish I could cut and paste the feedback, but it's been well over a year now and I've no longer got the email in question.

Life! Isn't it just wonderful?

Carl

I've been fortunate enough to receive some pretty good feedback over the years. Here are a few of them about Death by Fucking:
It is easy to see why you won the Golden Clit's. This is a great story. The awards were well deserved.

I don't think I've laughed so hard for years as I did at chapter 12. And even thoughI knew way before the last chapter how it would end, I still wept at the sadness.

Thank you for this wonderful story. I intend to read Book 2 but doubt it could match this one.
wow...

thank you...

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this story...

It made me laugh, cry and tweaked all my emotions...

This is as good as any book I have read.

(and belive me I am a prolific reader)

One of my favorite authors is Robert Heinlein and this reminds me very much of him. I hope that is a compliment for I have missed his writing tremendously. I hope to read much more by you inthe future. Please keep writing.

Once again thank you,
and one more:
... Death By Fucking not only touches that bar but grasps it firmly in both hands and does chin-ups. Ender, if this is the BEST work you ever accomplish you will still be one of the best writers I have ever had the pleasure to have read. If this is is an average tale then I insist you persue a career as a professional writer...you will be famous. If, somehow, this is the WORST thing you ever write, then your name will be carved in the minds of bibliophiles and Fans right beside Heinlein, Card, Tolken, King, and all of the other gods we authors worship, envy, and attempt to emulate.

This is one of the top three erotica stories I have read so far. I fully intend to pay the costs to have a copy printed and professionally bound, in leather if possible, when it is finished.

Here's something I received about What is And What Should Never Be.
Absolutely outstanding. So well written with an hilarious theme. I can see this expanded into a novel, or at least a novella. Hey, how about a screen play - wow, what a movie this could make. Kudos to the author, a brilliant short story.

When a Roman conquerer was honored with a parade through the streets of Rome, with people cheering, the Emporer awaiting with praise and prizes, there stood a man in the same chariot as the conqueror whispering in his ear: "You are not a God!"

I also got this feedback for the same story:
This is the worst bullshit story I have ever started on Literotica. I did not finish this piss-poor crap.
You take the bitter with the batter.

The best I received was a very flattering review comparing my non-erotic science Fiction story (The Day the Aliens Came) to works by Theodore Sturgeon. It was more than I deserve.

I've seldom got any feedback at all here. Don't know why though. You post "PLEASE COMMENT or CRITIQUE", post the link, and nothing. Go figure!!!

The best of my feedbacks have come from emails, which have come from mostly young black girls (15+ years old), black women (20-55 yrs. old), and white guys (various ages and backgrounds). And often from black girls/women who were either dating a white guy or had fantasies of having sex with a white guy.

My greatest feedbacks were probably:

"Lesson In Biology"- "This story sounds alot like my life. Black H.S. cheerleader having sex with an older white guy. I loved it. Write more like this." (A then 15 yr. old girl; now 21)

"Lesson In Biology" Ch. 1 to 3- "Damn this is good. It gets me all wet everytime I read it" (a 25 year old woman who I later became good friends with. She was dating a white guy at the time)

All of my other stories were getting similar feedbacks. My latest was, "When are going to write Chapter 4 of Lesson In Biology"......LOL

I also get fairly good feedbacks from the comment boxes at the bottom of each story page.
