Proffessor Joel Thorne

Born on the 12-May-1970, to mother Mia Vaughan and father Timothy Thorne, and named Joel Thorne, the boy was a single child in an almost loveless marriage. Where the parents did not show emotion to each other, they showed copious amounts to Joel, lavishing him with gifts, love and attention.

Mia and Timothy stayed together out of regard to their son. They slept in different rooms and lived and worked in different worlds. Mia Vaughan was a computer programmer for CNNI news network, updating data feeds in the computers whilst Timothy was a proffessor of historical scientific theory at YALE.

Joel was born in New Jersey and grew up in the family estate at Pittsburgh. He was given everything he ever wanted and did not lack anything. From the age of 5 he started with computers and had a natural compunction with computer data entry that Mia felt proud.

In 1987 Joel Thorne finished high school with full honours and went onto YALE to take on Computer Programming as a vocation. But in 1990 with one year of his degree to finish, tragedy struck when the plane carrying his mother vanished on its fight back from north africa. The journey took the plane through the fabled mysterious triangle called Bermuda.

Joel promised himself that he would find out what happened to his mother if it was the last thing he would ever do in his life. His father in 1992 died in a similar vain when his boat that was chartering off the Bahama's vanished. Both his parents lifes were unaccounted for and a search found nothing in both cases.

Joel Thorne studied every book, show and media on Bermuda Triangle and in 2002 recieving a expeditionary grant for the surveying and exploration of the Bermuda Triangle , he began the preparations for a indepth expedition.

Now in April of 2004 he was ready and sent the email.

1 Further female character role needed

2 Male character roles needed

Janine Radcliffe

Janine is a healthy 24 year old and in need of one final grade to complete her thesis and this was the opportune moment. She was the only child of Martha and Kendal Wesley.

She had been interested in the lore of myths since she was a child, Easter Island and the Bermuda triangle being one such myth she loved to find out things about. She wanted to prove something to the world and when she heard about Professor Joel Thorne She couldn't resist emailing him right away she wanted to join his expedition.

She began packing her bags the day she sent of the e-mail knowing for sure she was going to be chosen, she had to be.

Will provide a more detailed pose in the first one of the thread:)

Hi Petar,

I'd like to try this one also,

James Blakely always wanted to return to the Carribean where he had spent most of his four year hitch in the U.S. Navy. He had visited a number of the islands, where he found himself enjoying the flora and fawna he discovered while scuba diving and the vivacious and willing women he met at the various ports of call the ship he was on visited.

After his tour of duty ended he returned home to South Dakota where seven years later when he was 31 his dream was realized when he responded to Joel Thornes invitation with an enthusiastic e-mail reply.

I will provide a more complete background and discription of Jims physical and personallity traits in my first IC post if accepted.

Lydia Walker

Lydia is the daughter of a wealthy man which means she can do just about anything she wants as daddy indulges her wishes.

She is not spoiled though, simply has the rescources to pursue her dreams. One of those dreams is to explore the unknown. And this expedition fits the bill perfectly.

In her zeal for exploration she has taken courses in self defense, weapons and physical fitness so she will not hinder the party at all.

Physical description: 5' 7", raven black hair and green eyes. Trim and fit thanks to her upkeep in her training and very active.

Character Synopsis - Bermuda Triangle Expedition

PVodogaz, I sent you a PM earlier - but I figured I'd leave my character information, if the last male spot is open.

David Hayter

28-year old David grew up in the suburbs of Arizona. It was dry, maybe that's why when he saw the invitation, David figured it was time for a change in his life. He'd always heard stories regarding the Bermuda Triangle, but he always thought of it as some kind of hoax. Well, now was the time to figure that out for himself. From the deserts of Arizona to waters of the Bermuda, it was definitely a radical change in environment. Now desolation, that may be something both locations had in common.

David took his thirst for the unknown and had really pointed that out to Professor Joel Thorne. It never really seemed to occur to David that when he would go a few days driving his 4x4 Jeep into the heart of the Arizona desert with a few canteens he seemed to know his way around the unknown. Though, maybe that's why he couldn't believe the whole "Bermuda Triangle" myth - if he could find his way home through uncharted desert with coyotes, poisonous snakes and such - then people should be able to find their way through the waters.

It would be a life changing decision, surely.

David is roughly 6'1" in height, around 177 pounds in weight with a fit physique. He'd let his reddish brown hair grow out, to where it was past his shoulders now. He had green eyes, no facial hair; he sported a tattoo on the palm of his right hand, of an eye.

btw Petar: do you invision discovering and diving on a wreck, a ship or a plane? What do the rest of you think? It might be a way to come to some conclusions or raise new questions about Joels parents mysterious demise. Just an idea. Have a good rest of the week and a pleasant weekend, all.

Have a good few days away slowandeasy.

Thanks as well for bringing this important topic up for discussion.....does anybody have any ideas to throw into for the Bermuda Triangle.

I have an idea i want okayed. As the ship enters the Bermuda Triangle a deep fog envelopes the ship, this fog begins to make people on the ship get visitations from loved one's who passed over or loved ones' still alive giving mysterious messages. My character's parents fate could be uncovered in a dive of a plane wreck later on....

Any other ideas or changes?

Cheers folks

Petar

awesome idea , Petar

Hey I'm still here on accountof the wether isn't cooperating and will postpone departure until this evening.

I love doing flashbacks and with the element of the supernatural bringing it more into reality it's great fun to do. The fog will give a somber effect which will hopefully draw the group together and then the visions pulling them apart again creating a tug of war effect with their minds and emotions.

An idea here: do the flashback parts (visitors from the past) in itallics or in a different color. This will be great fun!

Before the fog I'd like to have a little time for them to enjoy the beauty of the carribean as I've been there in rl and it would be great to share some feelings via role play, not that I want to make this a romantic piece but some lightness at the begining would make a vivid contrast.

Thanks mate,

If we do the fog it wont come until we all enjoy the sites of the Caribean....but it will come in a sombre moment....and thats when the strangeness begins.

Looking forward to more ideas.

Ok night all bedtime as its midnight here

Petar

:)

Just a note to say I havent fallen off the face of the earth. Just some RL stuff happening. Will post today when I can.

Just wanted to comment..

I just thought I'd drop a line (or two, or more... :p) and say that the fog would be an interesting idea. I say we give it a go, I have no problem with it!

Cool, :)

The fog idea it will be later on....anyone at anyone can jump in with ideas, its all our thread.

Will post IC soon enough

Cheers,

Pete
