In 1947, an alien vessel crashed over New Mexico, killing the ship's inhabitants. It was taken into government custody and relocated to the Groom Lake facility, called Area-51 by the public. They were able to decipher the alien language on the computer systems and spent decades researching its files as well as the genetic structures of the extraterrestrial bodies. By 1997, they had successfully launched the Groom Lake Transgenic Program by using alien DNA to genetically alter mice, rats, birds, and then chimps.

After the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001, Groom Lake was put under severe pressure to complete human transgenic trials, with the ultimate goal of creating an army of super-soldiers and assassins. It was difficult to find volunteers after the first human trials all lead to death, so in a desperate attempt to keep the project moving forward, they began abducting orphaned children off the streets from around the country.

By 2010, they had killed dozens of children and homeless people with their experiments, and still no successful human trials. They were on the verge of being shut down until they had a breakthrough -- they discovered that if they included animal DNA as a buffer between the alien blood and the human blood, it would all mesh together and successfully create a human transgenic with animal traits.

In 2014, Groom Lake secretly deploayed a group of military programmed transgenic children in Afghanistan. Their assassination mission was a success, and they were deployed in various locations in Asia and Africa over the next three years.

In 2017, the team was on a mission in Syria, when they were order to bomb a village that was hosting a few top government officials. The attack would also kill the women and children in the village, but General Eschmeier told them it was a necessary sacrifice. Ultimately, the team snaps out of their brainwashing and spares the village. Eschmeier threats to terminate them if they don't comply, after which they use an electromagnetic pulse to disable their tracking devices and scatter into hiding.

It is now 2026. It's been nine years since we defected, and we have now all reached adulthood. We were still fairy young when we deployed in our last mission, having been raised at Groom Lake with military brainwashing. Since we were still children when we defected, it was easy to blend in at orphanages and homeless shelters around the world. Now we are all somewhere between 19-22, and scattered across the globe. General Eschmeier is still hunting for us, and has actually managed to recapture a few. Because human transgenics can sense the presence of each other, Eschmeier used the ones he recaptured to track down the rest of us. He has us all on a plane heading back to the United States. We manage to break free, hijack the plane, kill our captors, and then land on an uninhabited tropical island in the South Pacific to ponder our next move.

You can choose what animal buffer was used for your character, and what powers you derive from that. My character was bonded with wolf DNA, making him very similar to a werewolf with the ability to shapeshift. He also has enhanced senses, regenerative healing, agility, and reflexes. When he shifts, these traits enhance further, his ears grow partially spiked, his eyes glow red, his teeth become fangs, his face grows more bestial, he gains a fee inches in height and has increased muscle-mass similar to the Hulk.

Its up to you if you want to be shifters too -- werecats, werebears, werelizards, werebirds, etc. Or you could just have enhanced features without shifting.
