...if they don't grow crops - they get paid,
...if they suffer from a natural disaster - they get paid

...they moan a lot!

My heart bleeds for you.

Our business is growing crops, raising stock. If we do it well, we deserve to be paid for it.

A political decision was made to limit production. If a government told you ,you could only sell 75% of what you produced the previous year, you would be entitled to ask,"and who is going to pay my bills"

I'm currently in an F&M " infected area". I can't move stock outside the area. There is only one abattoir inside trhe area taking stock. Therefore it has a monopoly.
I have to drive over a straw disinfected mat each time I leave/enter the farm. During the time that I was under a total movement restriction, I had animals that grew to old to be allowed to enter the human food chain. The gov't is now the only people who will buy them, Another monopoly. They may collect them one day. They may pay me eventually.
The agriculture support industry, those people who rely on farmers for their livelihood is dying. Rumours abound of machinery dealers, agricultural markets quitting and selling their sites for redeveloping.

If an animal gets sick, I have to wonder whether it's worth the risk of calling out a vet. Just in case he makes a mistake visually assesssing the ailment (And diagnoses a disease , that he would have never seen in his entire career.). And signs a form that means i must gather all my stock and have them executed in front of me.

Vast areas of the countryside are closed. Signs everywhere asking people to stay out. Community life is at a standstill. Children don't have birthday parties.

During the last week inquests were held into three Welsh farmers who shot/hung themselves.

PPMan, you should feel lucky that you live in a country where food is cheap and readily available. Where your Gov't knows the way to keep the voter is happy is to keep food cheap. That is not to worried about the origin of food imports. That recognizes that the only way to avoid another wave of rural depopulation and a rise in unemployment and subsequent direct support payments. Is to invest in the basis of food production itself.

I don't know. Being 'on Bob Dole - on Viagra' might not be so bad for AndraJenny. He lives in Kansas where things grow knee high by the 4th of July. And his name is gender-ambiguous...he might like it.

Besides, what else is there to do since he is being paid not to grow things?

Andra, my family owns a farm in Northern Minnesota and we get paid to not farm it also.................but we do other things on the land............raise pigs, cattle, etc......we do farm still work the farm land though.......preparing it for planting.

If you dislike it soooo much,why don't you refuse the payment...or better yet...donate it to a charity...afterall isnt that what Republicans believe in?..Not Goverment suppying money to needy folks...but churches and individuals.If you have some much conviction as you claim...that seems to be the right thing for you to do.


1.Refuse to take the money

2.Donate the money to charity or church

3.Take the money that you really don't need or are entitled to,and be what Liberal Democrats thing you are to begin with.
