The deserts of Stygia were not exactly an ideal place to live, but for the sorceror Keld, it allowed him the privacy necessary to pratice his magic his way. He found a mostly intact watchtower near an oasis that had been long abandoned. It proved to be the perfect place to research, practice and gain more power. There were no priests of Set to tell him what to do, here. It was him and his work.
Keld adjusted his robes as he got ready for his morning divination. He needed to see when the next sandstorm would come along. The next step of his research required one to come along, and he hoped it would be soon. First thing's first, he needed to deal with someone.
And his... Acolyte? Apprentice? Slave? Neither the word nor her name mattered. Gods knew what brought her into his employ, but she at least proved useful. Her presence allowed him to continue his research while she took care of the mundane tasks. Her body also came in handy for providing certain ingredients in his potions, as well as certain rituals.
He walked up to the foot of his bed where the girl slept on the stone floor. He gave her a not-so-gentle nudge with his boot. "Wake up, girl! Go fetch me some water!"
