Another day, another safety issue has American Airlines under the microscope because of a mid-flight maintenance scare when a plane's landing-gear jammed after take-off.

Flight 1862 from Dallas to St. Louis had to return for an emergency landing 10 minutes into the flight Tuesday. The passengers were told to brace for a crash landing at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

You're holding the telescope the wrong way. Unions were created to insist on fair treatment of workers. Yes, some union rules are out of bounds.

I worked in union jobs most of my life. My dad did too. I went to one of his union meetings once. Seven years later I went to my union meeting when I started as a 'bag boy' at the local supermarket. It was the same boring shit! I hated unions.

Then I took a job with a company that had unions and met the boss. That company, like most corporations today, need some kind of watchdog over them and the way they treat the people who keep them in business.
